BANGKOK: -- A Chinese tourist, suspected to be a member of card skimming gang, was arrested yesterday at Suvarnabhumi airport with blank magnetic cards, real credit cards of others, and some electronic devices believed to be card skimmers.

Li Zou Zou, 28, was searched as he passed the airport’s security checkpoint with his carry-on baggage at 03.40 am yesterday shortly after arrival on a flight.

Inside his baggage are 10 credit cards of commercial banks in China, 162 blank plastic cards, a computer notebook, and some electronic devices believed to be card readers and skimmers.

Custom officials later sought cooperation from Kasikorn Bank and Bank of Ayudhya card experts to check these plastic cards.

It's the High Quality Chinese tourists Thailand been advertising for TIT

Well done whoever was responsible for catching this scum

Must be a really qualified guess that this is card readers and skimmers. On the other hand, everything good. One bad man less doing business as usual.

I am confused.

Was he leaving, arriving or transitting?

The scanning of carry-on luggage would suggest he was leaving or transitting. However, it says "after arrival on a flight" suggesting arriving.

The whole thing suggests a tip-off since it is unlikely Suwannaphoom security would pick up something like this without some prior information.

I just think this guy should get more punishment than a rapist.

Dont say that about swampy baggage checking.  I traveled with a RC glider and I had a battery charger. It was almost as big as those card readers. The glider got trashed by the PHI PHI dive shop while in their care and storage for the day of diving. They didn't make this right with me. They employ workers without permits. My rant over!   On a subsequent flight the checkin clerk asked about my charger. I was asked to watch and wait for my luggage to go through the visual check window. It  was as if  they had a note in my account from a prior flight.

It always amazes me that I can travel with so many electronics.

No cash siezed. Must be one of the zero dollar tourists.

He was probably a mule . Should have been followed to catch the rest of the gang .
