BANGKOK: -- The country's northeast region will experience a sharp drop in temperatures of up to 8 degrees Celsius from today while other regions, except the South, will feel cooler with a drop from 4-6 degrees the next day, the Meteorological Department said today.

In its ninth announcement issued Friday, the weather forcaster said the sharp drop in temperature was the result of high pressure front moving in from China to blanket the northeast region and the South China Sea.

The presence of the high pressure front will bring about rainstorms and wind gusts in some areas of the northeast region.

Afterwards the temperature will drop sharply from 4-8 degrees, it said.

Meanwhile other regions, North, Central and East will also be affected the next day with temperatures dropping by 4-6 degrees Celsius.

Some rain would be nice to clear the haze from the air.

we've been waiting for winter all season and these guys' predictions have yet to prove correct.

I'm not holding my breath for this cold snap to appear.

Where are you? been cool here in Udon Thani for the past couple of months, relative to Thailand off course, nights have been down around ~16c, which compared to the horrific summers is well cool!

Well, i live in Udon, and not my experience. The external temperature in the early morning has SOMETIMES dropped below 20, but most days up in the 30's (over 34 half the time) and bedroom still around 28-29 at 10pm. Yesterday first day in the last week not to hit 30 degrees. Ok, cooler than central Thailand but this winter has been the warmest i have experienced in 7 years.

Today Bedroom was only 22 degrees this morning, coolest all winter. Broke out the jumper for only the second time this year.

Nice site on the link. Checked January and the average minimum and maximum daily temperature was about 2 degrees above the normal temperatures for the time of year. So, as  i said, a warm winter for Udon. Yes out of town will be cooler.
