Everybody involved in fatal shooting of teenager will be charged: police chief

CHARGES WILL BE laid against everyone involved in the Chon Buri road rage incident that led to the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old high-school student, the provincial police chief said yesterday.

 

Pol Maj-General Somprasong Yentuam said initial examination of CCTV footage near the scene last Saturday showed a number of offences being committed, including double parking, speeding and reckless driving.

 

“All the offenders will be charged, in accordance with the witnesses statements and evidence we have. Anyone involved in the shooting incident will also face legal action,” he said, referring to possible accomplices.

Charged how much? Can I put this on my credit card?

Wow, they must be scared since they don't know if they will be fined 300 baht or 500 baht.

Better find a lawyer to negotiate the fines down a bit...

Is every kid in Thailand born to a top policeman, or is it a TV thing ?

Mind you I guess a 100 baht fine for double parking is seen to be doing something even in a murder case.

double parking speeding and reckless driving, any day anytime anywhere in Thailand but it takes  a  DEATH to get them to enforce it.............ok I know what to do now when Im blocked in next time

One would hope that if involved in a shooting of any kind you're charged...............................

It's the same as any law in Thailand I'm afraid , it never gets enforced unless somebody dies .

Then it is Two weeks of clampdowns , then back to as you were.

Yeah do not drive with a loaded gun besides u in the car or u will be put in jail.That should be the next campaign.

The double parking that started it all was shown on the second video posted yesterday (?), presumably the speeding happened between that place and the location of the shooting.

As far as I can see from the footage. Is that the van pulled in front of the car, blocking its escape. The people in the van got out and the van driver to assault the people in the car. A shot went off. The sound of someone either injured or in terror can be heard coming from the car.

Who shot who? I don't know. What happened before? I don't know.

Okay I found out what happened.

Suthep said he stopped to eat at the Ang Sila seaside market in Chonburi city with his family. After finishing his meal, Suthep found his car blocked by a van. He said the high school students inside refused to move upon request. After some argument, the van finally let Suthep out.

But after he drove a kilometer, he said the same van pursued him and cut him off. A few teenagers got out and surrounded the car, which was also carrying Suthep’s wife, mother and nephew.

When Suthep stepped out, he said that he was attacked by the teens. That’s when he pulled out his 9mm pistol and fired a single shot that he says was meant to scare them off.

The bullet hit Nawapol. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

In their posts it doesn't seem to matter for some here, ...or they just don't know, that the suspect is, when I'm right, a 50year old, and that the victim, as would possibly be his friends present, who was driving the van was ...17!

Of course, it would by no means be an excuse of any kind for the 50year old to have used a gun (starting from the fact he obviously was having a, loaded, gun in his car, probably with no right to do so, even when the gun was 'licenced') against the victim. But, even when not considered as 'self defence', with other, minor, charges pressed against him, the possibility of him being chased, stopped, and surrounded by some angry teenagers, will, eventually when he has a decent lawyer, plead in his favour.

The main principial questions, about how such a road-rage incident could happen, being reduced to: what was a 17year old doing driving a van, and, what was a 'xx' year old doing with a gun in his car. Both questions pointing straight at the existing state of lawlessness in this country, on the side of the citizens failing to respect rules and laws, and, the more so, on the side of the ones supposed to serve-and-protect the citizens, and further, the judicial system supposed to serve the Law to whom has broken it. IMHO, the two last bare a large part of responsibility in such kind of incidents, which, alas, become more and more common, most of not even being 'documented'!

Why is everyone getting so touchy/feeling and emotional about this particular incident. It is a just a normal daily occurrence in Thailand. Others are worse!

There will be another road rage murder tomorrow so settle back folks and wait for the next one and you can have repeat pleasure in expressing your faux fury all over again.

Just what I was telling the missus , all the shootings , stabbings , road rage shit has been going on for years . It is only with the advent of dash cams , mobile phone cameras and social media outlets that it has become more visible.

'Destiny': and possibly, after, another one for the machetes, baseball bats, crowbars, hammers, metal pipes, a.s.o. many (most?) Thais do have close to them in their cars, is it...? Why not, simply (but maybe un-Thai), go tough, real tough, on any, and every, case of road-rage? ...And have the BiBs doing their job, a bit, searching all cars thoroughly at their, frequent, road-blocks, which could prevent a lot of such heavy violence? Well i notice that the police lately is doing much more alcholtest stopping cars etc.

'Destiny': No doubt alcohol can lead to road-rage (but other ingested 'drugs' no doubt will more highly contribute), but I had it about people having inside the interior(!) of their car some 'object' which can be used as a weapon. To my former list I should add 'paralysers' and 'pepper sprays', the detention (...and use) of is also illegal in Thailand, the last more often to be found in vehicles driven by ladies. The essential remaining: why would someone feel the need to carry such items, but because of the omni-present road-rage...? 

What has happened in the case of the young guys, and one girl, who hacked the disabled man in a bakery. It's gone quiet. They are children of police officers.

Both as guilty as each other.

 

And the crowd just stare like its a friday night theatre.

Trying to make sense of your bizarre diatribe is difficult but who said the 17 year old was driving the van?  It wasn't reported anywhere.
