Ahab Posted February 11, 2017 Share Posted February 11, 2017 So the date of my retirement is quickly approaching on 23 February 2017. We have prepared and are ready for the move to Lahansai Buriram. This is where we plan on starting and will travel extensively inside Thailand the first year or two. I will take any advise/words of wisdom and derisive comments that anyone cares to provide. Vert Central for traveling around the northeast. you can PM me if you like and I will tell you more , as you know on this site thai visa has lots of people who like to put rubbish on other members . My Thai wife and I have a farm house out on the farm (not a village) about 9 km. from Lahan Sai and frequent the town for supplies, the Saturday evening market for veggies and other eats and to run into local Thai friends. Although I only live here about 3-4 months of the year (I'm from Harlem, USA), I always look forward to the extreme swing from the chaos of NYC to the settled and naturalness of the farm. I much more enjoy the rural farm areas and it's genuine Thai people than the bustle of Bangkok and the calamity of the more popular resorts. Buriram is a cool place and lots to see and do in itself.Having taken train journeys all over Thailand the Bangkok to Buriram is one of my favourite because of the fab scenery on the way! Lots of different places to see with other trains out of Buriram. So would highly recommend to use the trains where possible as so much more to see! I originally wanted to live near the sea, in particular Prachuap Kirikhan. I did travel extensively around Thailand, top to bottom, east to west. I eventually ended up in a scenic area of Loei province. That was more than twelve years ago. Not entirely sure what your last comments says How many friends do you have living nearby? How many times a week do you go out and have fun with your friends? Do people get together for dinner parties or BBQ's at each other's houses? From what I've read it seems that most of the people living in the sticks hardly do any socialising.
