Mojomor
The 3 English language radio stations here generally have poor English in their ads. One genius seems to think unisex and men mean the same thing. Another ad says ''It don't get much better than this'' when the correct English is ''it doesn't''. We had a longish thread recently on the correct pronunciation for the city, and yet one ad at least has manged to put the river Tay in an ad for a limo service. My question is basically, is nobody exerting any type of editorial control on all this Pidgin English. It grates on many peoples ears.
johng
Why not write them a stern letter signed "disgusted from Tunbridge Wells" A good alternative is a youtube playlist or "absolute radio" both need internet though.off topic Looktung radio in the Pattaya area is often obliterated by an overwhelming signal from the Thai Navy radio station

Oink
The Pattaya forum was what the OP waz on. Could this be the same person that was complaining to Pattaya 103FM that the BBC news presenter had the wrong accent? I fink it could be dood! The full context of the above quote is, ''It don't get much better than this, John.'' This line being spoken by a female, presumably Thai. who is playing the part of the Thai wife responding to her whingeing, gormless English spouse. Unless your Thai spouse or significant other is of the hiso-daughter-of-a-general-with-a-doctorate-in-humanities disposition, then this particular on-air advert is quite acceptable grammatically. Mr Joe Bangles
Add to that some of the abysmal accents used to promote various products from local outlets, particularly the Australian attempt with certain meat products. 'I'll see you soon' - I don't think so. Appalling !!
johng
I Think the radio stations are slightly less cringe worthy than the foreign run TV channel's that have come ,gone and some survived on Pattaya cable TV.
