I've accepted a job in South Korea and my employer will wire my usd salary to 2 bank accounts anywhere I authorize. My thoughts after reading many threads here was to send some of my salary to my US bank for investment and the rest to Bangkok Bank, as they have the foreign currency branch in the USA,  and swap into Bhat when the market here is weak to the dollar.

I'm not 50 yet to apply for the retirement visa, so I cannot provide bkk bank that, they said get a letter from my embassy to set up a bkk account? Also not married to a Thai, nor do I intend to work in thailand, just live here 10 days a month.

Pitfalls? Suggestions? What would you Do?

Get on it immediately, while you can still provide evidence that you live and work in Thailand. I think you would find it impossible once you have relocated to South Korea. Exact rules can vary from day to day, and from branch to branch, so don't give up if the first branch says "no".
