Who is ripping off the cops for their lunch at Wat Dhammakaya?

Featured Replies

This could go on for some time: IF the abbot is still in the temple complex he will not play fair & stay in one place.  At night they will move his oxygen tent to a part already searched by the hungry BIB during the day.

"...Media organizations are getting increasingly desperate for worthy news as the latest instalment in the saga of the arrest of the chief monk at the temple continues..."

Short of telling porkies, it's pretty hard for the media to report anything that isn't deemed (in the evening rant) to reflect badly on the junta and its cronies.

Apparently (according to Prayut), "...there have been many news reports unfairly criticizing the work of the 'government' and omitting factual information, that in turn leads to public misunderstanding..." (https://is.gd/jkuaSP).

The sad fact in this case too, is - the chief monk continues to elude the authorities !!!

everybody is ripping off everybody in LOSt (land of smiling thieves)

You know what, your right: tomorrow I'm going to my job as a teacher, but I'm not going to teach. I'll do that everday from now on and demand my salary too. If students/parents/my boss complain, I'll tell them to <deleted> off and sue them for libel. ;)

I seriously can't beleive you're comparing the BIB to any other force. If you want comparisons start with a cartel or mafia family somewhere.

I wasn't comparing any forces, I was asking if you thought only Thai police should be paid the way you suggest, why not give the same pay conditions to the police from your country?

"...tomorrow I'm going to my job as a teacher, but I'm not going to teach."

I know that you're trying to be facetious but how would that work, apart from trying to teach what else does a teacher do?  Maybe you should teach yourself some grammar and how to spell while you're doing nothing tomorrow, Teach.

Meager salary?

Yes, meager salary, look it up.

Well, the cops are making 200 baht a day according to the article.

They do understand the concept of a daily allowance don't they?

Yes that is how I read it, they are pocketing 200 baht a day of their per diem.

It should be reduced.

The fact that they are being ripped off for a poor meal is another issue, they can afford to order a pizza!

Don't forget to wear a facemask plus sunglasses.

"Cops surrounding the controversial "UFO" temple of Wat Dhammakaya in Pathum Thani have been complaining about their daily allowance."

Don't like it. Get another job!!! They knew from the beginning that it would take time to move up on the food chain to where the real money is.

Besides, the cop in the front of the photo looks like he would benefit from fewer calories and a little more exercise.

I didn't make any reference to their pay structute, but if you asked me I'd say they shouldn't receive the same pay structures, because they're not performing their duties as police officers (I've got very low African expectations and even I think they're useless).

As for your childish 2nd comment: I would welcome an onscreen keyboard that allows my sausage fingers to type correctly. Any suggestions?

Ah sh t, I see I've done it again. You're going to have to call in your language police buddies to come bust me: I wrote structuTe instead of structuRe.

"Damn you Samsunggg, damn you to hell!"

Welcome to the real world, where you have to use your pay and budget because there is no corruption money coming in.  Better get use to it, because the more you try to drive foreigners (expats and tourists) out of the country, there will be less and less money for you to get your hands on.

It wasn't as "childish" as your comment that you'd refuse to do your teaching job as an analogy in a question here about your comments on the RTP.

Any suggestions about typing?   Yes, type more carefully.  Remember, you raised the subject of your being a teacher so, perhaps,  if you're going to use it to bolster your argument, learn the difference between "your" and "you're". Work out when to use a question mark, not a comma.  Find out the correct usage of commas and colons.  Ever heard about "i" before "e" except after "c"?   I "beleive" [sic] that you haven't but try hard and "everday" [sic] you' will get better.   None of that has anything to do with the size of your fingers!

10-20 years ago the cops just could eat in any restaurant without paying....now they have to eat this...

80 Baht for a bit of pork over rice - that's Farang price.

Maybe they should have shown their Thai drivers licence.

They should all go to Big C to the food court and get a good meal for 50 tbh. Free water with that,

Fascinating. You should offer online lessons. A few questions, Teach: Why is there no comma before "but" and an apostroohe after "you"?

Where?  What's an "apostroohe"?
