Who is ripping off the cops for their lunch at Wat Dhammakaya?

Who is ripping off the cops for their lunch at Wat Dhammakaya?

BANGKOK: -- Cops surrounding the controversial "UFO" temple of Wat Dhammakaya in Pathum Thani have been complaining about their daily allowance.

Sanook.com reported that officers get a daily allowance of 440 baht.

But out of this they have to fork out 80 baht to pay for their three daily meals leaving them with just 200 baht to take home.

And all they get for each 80 baht meal is a bit of rice and topping in a Styrofoam container.

Sanook wondered who was making all the profits on this venture.

Media organizations are getting increasingly desperate for worthy news as the latest instalment in the saga of the arrest of the chief monk at the temple continues.

They better call the Pizza Company...80 baht for that is a real ripoff.

How does it feel to get ripped off for once BIB :)

Bring a pack-up and take the 440 Baht home

We get 150 Baht daily food allowance if we are working outside the college and if the college provide food then they (sometimes, not always) deduct 80 Baht for 3 meals... NOT 80 Baht for each meal (240 Baht).

They get a salary, they stand around and do nothing all day, why does the state have to feed them?

My heart is truly bleading for them.

Poor babies!

That looks like the normal lunch I get on a long-distance interprovincial bus, and our school-provided lunches.

Relax, at least their getting a stipend for it!

Well, the cops are making 200 baht a day according to the article.

They do understand the concept of a daily allowance don't they?

Edited by Bluespunk

Is the daily allowance different from their salaries? If so, why do they even get a daily allowance.

It gets more pathetic by the day.

This appears to be a per diem payment in addition to their regular salary. Eight baht for three meals is 27 baht per meal. I fail to see how anyone is getting ripped off.

I hope they don't get a meal allowance when they're sat in those boxes by the road playing games on their phones?

Since they have not been successful in enforcing the law maybe they shouldn't get anything; payment for results.

eighty baht per meal as pictured is a rip-off anywhere.

What get me is why don't they bring kitchen on wheel like the army mobile kitchen and serve them ration packs but their would be a huge need for mobile toilet would it??

Aye lad, need to teach them some thrift! potted beef sandwiches on white bread with a generous spreading off margarine, food to catch mysterious crooked monks on!

The tea money is being collected by someone much higher up to leave the bent monk alone. No one wants to actually put the old shyster on trial for years and have monks and the faithfully regularly showing up and blocking the court house.

The state doesn't feed them, it provides them with a daily allowance to supplement their next-to-nothing wage.

It's an allowance that is paid in addition to their meagre salary and is part of their remuneration package, similar to millions of other workers, including some on here.  Why shouldn't they get it?  How would you feel if an amount equivalent to the price of your meals was deducted from your salary?

Someone would steal it.

But between the Thai Buddhists and the Thai police, I'm not sure which one.

McDonalds should be ordered, via Article 44, to deliver children's Happy Meals to the police.

"... they shouldn't get anything; payment for results."

Just like the police in your country, I suppose?  Why should Thailand be any different?

Ah yes, rather ordered for the police by the besieged temple. Slow death by clogged arteries. At the rate the police are going on this little project, there will be plenty of time to see the effects.

Brilliant!

With a free toy so they have something to do all days when not fighting the agressive ultrarich monks.

You know what, your right: tomorrow I'm going to my job as a teacher, but I'm not going to teach. I'll do that everday from now on and demand my salary too. If students/parents/my boss complain, I'll tell them to <deleted> off and sue them for libel. ;)

I seriously can't beleive you're comparing the BIB to any other force. If you want comparisons start with a cartel or mafia family somewhere.

Chap in the OP photo seems to be doing all right on it doesn't he?

Not exactly a Lean Mean Steely Eyed Fighting Machine is he....

Meager salary? Perhaps, the allowance is quite high at 440, perhaps it has to do with accounting on the government side. No I do not think its fair 80baht per meal is deducted, obviously the head in charge is part of the corruption.
