BANGKOK: -- FRESH ALLEGATIONS by the US Department of Justice (DOJ) concerning a CCTV installation project at Parliament House 10 years ago may add weight to corruption allegations, said Air Chief Marshal Weerawit Kongsak, chair of the National Legislative Assembly’s (NLA) fact-finding panel yesterday.

Weerawit said the panel was preparing to conclude its initial findings and would submit its report to NLA President Pornpetch Wichitcholchai by next week.

He said the panel had received information concerning the case from the US Department of Justice and found some correlations with the NLA’s existing information.

The correlations included the timing when the procurement took place, the companies involved and the procurement procedures. The similar details suggested that corruption could have taken place, Weerawit said.

just wait for a next elected parliament to submit your report. Everything they are going to do now will be biased. I wonder how can you check and balanced others when you voted law to make you not accountable to the tax payers?

Ever notice how anything and everything that has to do with corruption here, only relates to a former administration, and never to the people currently in power?

When was the last time you saw a current top ranked policeman, minister, governor, mayor, or army official brought up on charges, and convicted? Never. It just does not happen.

Little P. Protecting the elite, powerful, wealthy, connected, and moving Thailand backwards at an alarming pace.

The only reason The US is involved in the report is that it is illegal for a US company to receive a kick back from any foreign unit sells. The US did look into this sales and it will be on records just how much per camera the company actually sold the cameras for,so if the purchase price is reported differently it Thailand then corruption is now proven. Or as the saying goes "GOTCHA".

Its called the last guy Syndrome. I ran into it in Mexico going to the dentist. Every time I went to a dentist he told me the previous dentist did a terrible job but in the end he was no better. Reminds me of one of those reflection pictures going back and back and back till I get dizzy.

P.S. As usual I enjoyed your piece.

Is the NLA investigating the expensive microphone, TV and the clocks at the same time or they just interested in non junta corruptions.

Two wrongs don't make a right Eric.

And after Shin controlled administration being in power most of this century, there is a hell of a lot to go at!

If the corruption took place 10 years ago, it happened under the previous military government.  No prizes for guessing how this one ends up.

From what I read, it was negotiated before the coup. They will probably rush on it in order to attract attention while they cover up the RR scandal and others.
