Accident Three Family Members Electrocuted in Incident in Trang

A incident claimed the lives of three family members in Trang Province on the afternoon of 19 May, after they were fatally electrocuted at their home in Ban Nong Niang Taek village, located in the Na Wong Subdistrict of Huai Yot District. Emergency services were alerted at approximately 13:30, by Huai Yot Police Station, reporting a fatal electrical incident at House No. 26, Moo 8. Responding teams from the Sawang Phakdee Trang Foundation, local police, forensic specialists and medical staff quickly attended the scene. The victims were identified as: • Mr Preecha Krongyut, aged 50, the homeowner • Mrs Amnuay Sreenuan, aged 52, his wife • Mrs Ju Krongyut, aged 89, his mother Initial findings revealed all three victims had suffered fatal electric shocks. Mrs Amnuay was found lying on her back near a clothes-drying rack, dressed in an undergarment and traditional Thai wrap, with signs of burns and bruising on her body. Mr Preecha was found nearby with burns on his left arm and a wire gripped in his hand. Mrs Ju, also found gripping a wire, had sustained visible burn injuries. Further investigation uncovered that an improvised electrified wire had been installed around the home, just 20 centimetres above the ground, as a makeshift deterrent against dogs attacking the family’s chickens. The wire, made from copper cabling, had been connected from the main house to a small shack in the back garden, and then run around the perimeter. It is believed, from a neighbours account that Mrs Amnuay was electrocuted first while hanging or collecting laundry, touching the low-lying wire. Her cries likely prompted Mr Preecha to rush to her aid, but in his panic he failed to shut off the power supply and was also electrocuted trying to pull the wire away from his wife. Moments later, Mrs Ju reportedly came to assist, only to meet the same fate. None of the victims were wearing shoes at the time of the incident, increasing their vulnerability to electric shock. The exact cause remains under investigation by forensic experts. All three bodies were examined at the scene before being taken for post-mortem examination. Recalling Richard Smalley: My Gemini-Chat about the rigors of hard Chemistry study?
Dear Folks, As I get older, and as the internet becomes harder to search for things we once read on the internet, but which are now buried too deep for any absurdly inane search engine, such as that which Google search has now become, I tried to ask Gemini Advanced to cough up a great lecture/presentation by Richard Smalley, of Rice University, in which he spoke at length about the dedication and toughness required to study the Natural Sciences, specifically Chemistry, and the fact that it is the Asian students who are the only ones left who have the stamina and guts to do such hard work. Chemistry is not easy. The Natural Sciences are not easy. And, Smalley was just making note of the fact that it was mostly only his Asian students, mostly from China, who still had the Right Stuff and perseverance to do the hard work required to excel in the Hard Sciences, rather than the healthcare sciences, which I think he said were more popular with the American students. So, since I was unable to find this lecture using Google search, I tried Gemini. But, even Gemini was not able to find this lecture on the net. Poor Old Gemini was only able to give me this: So, was Smalley of Rice University correct that it is the Asian students, specifically the Chinese students who STILL have what Tom Wolfe called.... The Right Stuff, in order to do the very hard work required to excel in the Hard Sciences? Most American students who open a graduate-level Chemistry textbook immediately begin to doze off. Whatever happened to the American students of 80 years ago, the ones who loved to work hard...the guys who grew up on the farm, the ones who did not shirk hard work? And, the ones who grew up reading books, by the way? The Natural Sciences are much harder than coding, which is NOT a science, but more like a diversion from work, these days. The coders somehow mistakenly believe they are "scientists"...but their perceptions of themselves, in this respect, are just plain laughable. They would not know real science if it hit them in the eye like a great pizza pie, in fact. And, yes, I am paraphrasing this song, in case you have forgotten: So one of the important questions implied by this Topic is: Where have all the REAL Americans gone... Long time passing? Economy Thailand's 2025 Struggles: Growth Forecast Slashed Amid US Tariffs

This comes in response to looming fears over trade tariffs threatened by US President Donald Trump. The NESDC now anticipates a growth rate of just 1.3 to 2.3 percent, a notable drop from the earlier forecast of 2.3 to 3.3 percent. Danucha Pichayanan, secretary general of the NESDC, pointed out that the Thai economy managed a 3.1 percent growth from January to March compared to the previous year. However, concerns about US tariffs and a dip in expected tourist inflow in 2025 have forced the agency to lower its expectations. "The (trade) talks have not yet been finalised, and there are several countries waiting in line to negotiate," Danucha explained during a recent news briefing. Thailand is staring down a potential 36 percent levy due to global "reciprocal" tariffs proposed by Washington. This giant tariff could come into force unless renegotiations occur and a reduction is secured by July. Consequently, the Thai economic forecast is clouded by uncertainty, with private investors exhibiting caution until the trade situation clarifies. This climate of hesitancy is expected to continue affecting the market in the second quarter, keeping economic momentum sluggish. As Thailand braces for the economic ramifications of unstable tariff conditions and reduced tourism, the government and businesses are keenly watching developments. Any changes in the US's trade strategies could have a substantial impact on Thailand’s economic landscape.
