Not possible with KTB to receive the code only with postpaid DTAC

That sounds strange, as I not believe the bank can know if you have post or prepaid… you sure you have activated the roaming?

  • You don't need to close your bank account. Their is no requirement for you to have a work permit to have one.

  • Your bank account is not dependent on a work permit. I recommend you st-up internet banking with international transfers if you want to return home. Otherwise leave LOS for somewhere nearby

  • As has already been suggested you can set up internet banking.   The SCB has an excellent system (in English as well as Thai).   You can register at their webpage here.

Yes, you must be reachable without country code, this is what I was told by my bank

Yes, that's the reason why you can't use a foreign mobile as for a foreign one you need to put the country code. But for a Thai mobile the country code is only needed if you want try to call from a non Thai network. So therefore I still would assume also prepaid should work too.

At least for Kasikornbank it will work 100%.

Close the account (or not), but take ALL your money and move it out of the reach of the thai's, manage your money-dont let the leeches do it for you!

If the phone is turned on with roaming enabled it can be reachable outside Thailand. I usually swap my Thai and UK SIMs around when I travel to UK and keep an extra old phone. (A dual SIM phone would be an idea I know). When I am expecting some PIN, or OTPW from Thailand so I can do something online from the laptop I turn it on and the SMS reaches me fine. It appears to be free too.
