Jomtien to Seam Reap

Featured Replies

My girlfriend, sister and mother want to make a 3 day side trip from Jomtien to Seam Reap.

They are looking for a return bus to the border - then another ( return) bus to Seam Reap and a simple guest house/ 2 star hotel there.

Would appreciate any recommendations and indicative costs please- thanks in advance.

Ps, I have looked online- cannot find much info..

The yellow Bus (operated by ROONG REUANG) to Mukdahan from Pattaya North Bus station stops at Aranyaprathet where the border with Cambodia (POIPET on the Cambodian side) is located. If taking this Bus, you need to take a TukTuk (if several people) or Motocy (if singe traveler) to the border. TukTuk costs around 80 Baht. There are Buses leaving in the morning between 8 and 9 am and from what I know, an evening Bus too, and the ticket to Aran costs approx 300 Baht, but I would strongly recommend to inquire at the Bus Station at Pattaya Nuea road in person.

Once crossing the border, there are touts to point you towards overpriced Buses or Taxis to Siem reap, but sadly there is little chance to avoid that. I should notice that a 3 day trip is pretty much nonsense, as you will only have one full day in Siem Reap due to the lengthy and inconvenient journey to get there and back.

If money is not a concern, then better fly from Swampy or DMK. Air Asia and Cambodian Angkor Air offer affordable tickets and you can avoid all the enormous hassle that comes with the land journey (for example waiting 2-3 hrs at Thai immigration on your way back to Thailand)

Siam2007 - thank you so much for your time in giving such an informative- detailed and invaluable reply. I think I can say this plan is under review and flights look the only viable option - thanks again
