US ambassador to Cambodia William A. Heidt says he wants the Cambodian government to sit down and talk about a multi-million-dollar debt owed to America from the days before the Khmer Rouge regime. He said there had not been many discussions on the subject with the Cambodian government in the last 20 years and the loan had grown to $500 million.

There had been no substantial discussion of the issue since 2011, he said. “To us any time the Cambodian government wants to sit down and talk about it we’re happy to do that,” Mr. Heidt said.

“They’ve never made a request to cancel the debt. “I don’t think we’d agree to that. It’s never been on the table since the 1990s until today. In fact, they accepted responsibility for the debt.”

Good luck with getting any of it back. The rich, corrupt Cambodian elite are obsessed with amassing piles of money for themselves. The US should just withdraw all foreign aid to this joke of a country.

First, stop all trade with Cambodia. Stop all visas to America. Then ask if they want to talk about the debt. On the other hand 15th of March the American debt will be the news headlines.

Heidt wants to talk about Cambodia opposing the International Court ruling finding China's occupation of atolls in the China South Sea to be illegal in exchange for foreign aid received from China.
