papakapbaan
A varition on the "de facto" permanent Non-0 stay? 30 days Visa Free + 7.23 of National Police Order 606/2006? (Sunbelt? Not on Saturday? Lopburi3?) Will it be allowed to indefinitely extend "30 days visa exempt permits to stay" (aka "Visa on Arrival") for 60 days under 7.23 of National Police Order 606/2006: "In case of entering for visiting Thai wife / husband or child"? It seems the 7.23 extension of stay does not require any visa. -Will the extensions effectively allow one to escape the rule of 90 days IN/90 days OUT under 30 day visa-free permits to stay? Since the period covered by the extension is not technically a 30 day visa-free stay. -Will the Immigration authorities grant the extensions indefinitely? It says "The permission shall be granted only one time." I take it that it means one time for every permit to stay (1 extension for every stamp "Admitted Until:..." issued at an entry) So it would look like this at the well known Mai Sai border for example: -At the Mai Sai border control: "Good Morning Officer! I'm leaving for Tachilek!" -A few minutes later: "Good Morning Officer! I'm back for 30 days! Thank you." -A few minutes later at the Mai Sai Immigration office (down the road): "Good Morning Officer! I'm here for my 60 day extension!" -Repeat 90 days later. In effect: a variation on the cyclic 90 Day Non-O Multiple Entry Visas. (Since they are, apparently, no longer issued in the region -- and, in my case, NOT EVEN IN MY HOME COUNTRY! @!@) Considerable added benefit: not necessary to get any sort of visa. With: Child Birth Certificate Tabian Baan Child ID card/passport Bank passbook with proof of monthly money transfers from abroad if necessary Mother and child in persons if necessary (But NOT THE WIFE in my case, note). lopburi3
Sunbelt is on vacation until the second week in January. Believe the one time will be just that (once) but most fine points will not be known for awhile.
papakapbaan
Once in a lifetime, then?? Only one extension in a passport maybe? I know the regulations are very "fresh". Well. If anybody confirms anything about a "7 days out before new entry allowed" rule, then I am SURE to test the 7.23 extension route in January. Better 60 days on extension than a new entry for 90 days after 7 days out! :-( However, if you are right, lopburi3, I would then lose a one-time right?? (Not a big loss anyway!) Anybody out there on Thaivisa who already tried the 7.23 extension route maybe??
