Representatives of Wat Dhammakaya cross one of the moats Tuesday as they make their way to a news conference.

PATHUM THANI — Just north of the sprawling Wat Dhammakaya complex is an unfinished hospital called Boonraksa. Soldiers tried to search it weeks ago, but were pushed back by a crowd of monks and the faithful.

Now it’s being fortified, with moats dug and obstacles set up. A large group of worshipers has been gathering in the area, with some pitching tents, which the authorities interpret as indicating intent to stay.

Use helicopters fly in abseil down job done.

Why is this government allowing a band of thugs, yes thugs dictate what is happening.

Time to stop playing around get in get the job done now.

Digging moats, bloody clowns. Get in there with a couple of Cat d8s fill it in.

Better still why not get the DSI bosses go to Pattaya and round up all the ex-pats who are ex S.A.S.

US green berets/ US rangers or even navy seals, plenty of them ready willing  and able.

OHH maybe not no room for zimmer frames on helos      :cheesy:

DSI accuses monks and followers of building new defence line

100_DSI.jpg

BANGKOK: -- The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) today accused followers and monks at Wat Dhammakaya of putting up new defence line to intercept authorities to enter the temple from this side to search for the defiant Phra Dhammachayo who was earlier stripped off his monastic rank by His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn.

The new defence line includes earth wall, ditch, and a hundred of 200-litre drums lining along the entrance to Gate 1 of the temple.

The DSI said it detected the defence line after flying drones over the vast temple areas covering almost 3,000 rai to look for suspected targets where the defiant monk might use to hide himself.

The line comprises of oil drums, earth wall and ditch is in front of the Boonlaksa building inside the temple.

It said the defence line was similar to the barricade built by the military in its defence strategy against intrusion.

But a spokesman of the temple dismissed DSI’s accusation saying the oil drums are empty with no oil as suspected by authorities.

The drums were lined up with intention to support the net which it raised up as wall so as to allow followers to have shades while guarding against intruders amid broad daylight and sun heat from entry.

The monks and followers deployed at the defence line also invited media representatives to cross over to listen to their explanation and see what is behind  the line.

However the only access they provided is an old small ladder spanning across the ditch.

Obvious to any well trained military professional that this is an insurmountable fortification

with absolutely NO evident accessibility by even the most battle hardened soldier.

We must retreat sir!!!! Shall I give the order now sir?

'Monks' versus 'army' this is not going to end well.

Yes for the army. The junta have over used S44 and are now in a loose loose situation. I dont care for the corrupt monk but neither do I care for the corruot junta. If the army are seen to act violently against monks they will loose face if they let the monk escape they loose face. What is worse these monks are showing the rest of the people that you dont need weapons to fight the army and that you dont need to fear them. This is the greatest mistake the junta have made.

Those 1 meter moats are key, military certainly cannot pass them as mentioned by several members...

But the abbot can walk on water... 555

And since they have the moat now, can we expect catapults, rams and ballistas any time soon?

This is what happens when you alow crazy people form sects, just look at:
Scientology that were spying on the US government, including CIA and FBI
Aum Shinrikyo that attacked the Tokyo underground with sarin 1995
Branch Davidians (an offshoot from the Seventh-day Adventist Church) and the Waco Siege ending with 76 dead

And so on...

I have friends telling me that Dhammajayo is a good monk because he managed to get a lot of money, then I ask them who is/was a better monk Dhammajayo, Luang Phor Koon or Luang Ta Maha Bua and who have done the most for the Thai people... so far all of them has realized that maybe Dhammajayo isn't that great after that conversation!

Best solution for this problem: send in a couple of tank squads and let them demolishing every building that monks and followers try to stop the police/military from entering or just bring it all down so there is no need to search the compund (No way I can call it a temple because it's really a compund full of religius fanatics).

As ever follow the  money - Dhammakaya are by far the richest religious organisation in Thailand and I'm sure the junta would love to get their hands on some of the loot. That said gullible fools have willingly donated to the temple and if they wish to follow the baloney and it gives them some succour then let them be. They are currently adding millions of relatively wealthy Thais to their ever growing list of the 'p$$ed' off when I would have thought they ought to keep them on message. Rather like Trump they haven't thought this through to the end game.

Why is the government messing around with this guy? Go and find him. He making a laughing stock out of the PM.

Unbelievable. ..

That's easyier said than done, have you seen the ditch they dug overnight? It's a whopping 1 meter wide, that's worldnews! Maybe they can ask the USA or China for help?

And what if they fill the ditch with gasoline and light it??? Those images will spread over internet like a burning fire.

This story will continue for many months i guess untill they give up finding him. You make it sound like they can just walk in and get him out but we all know it doesn't work that way...this is thailand.

Wow, ditches that are less than 1 meter wide and probably about 30 cm deep! Well, yes, the Mongolian hordes or the Huns might have potentially, possibly, conceivably been able to tackle those formidable fortifications with relative ease. But the Thai military? No chance. Not after they have proven time and again how inept they are in handling that so-called temple siege.

The police has the air-born medals on their uniforms right? Not the soldiers, so i guess they will paradrop them on the roof of the hospital together with some packs of somtam phet. Hopefully they can make a hole in the roof to get in.

They might do it tonight when all is dark and the monks asleep. It's exciting now, they're getting a small step closer every week.

And how many are in the military ??!!! not to discount the wonderful airborne police ! Ohh and the masses of hardware they all have at there disposal... Clearly they will have to allocate more billions to purchase bridging units to scale the massive fortifications and ditches . How long as this been going on for now! What a joke of a military and law enforcement

But are are trying to the best of their skills and ability. If they would just call them troughs instead of moats, the military would be all over them in a flash trying to position their snouts.

It would hold up an average infantry company for, oh, 6 minutes?

5 minutes laughing and 1 minute to paddle across.

But then...
