webfact Posted March 7, 2017 Share Posted March 7, 2017 Family fears student’s killer is not among police suspects By The Nation CHA-AM: -- RELATIVES of a 24-year-old student, who was killed in an attack when he was stabbed in the head with a screwdriver in his dormitory, fear his assailant may never be brought to justice. Thirapong Thitatharn, a senior at Silpakorn university’s Phetcha-buri campus, died in hospital on March 2 and two other students were injured in the attack. Thirapong’s mother, who took her son’s body for a funeral in their hometown Chumphon, promised to press charges and expressed concern that justice might not be served as some of the assailants were sons of local politicians and police officers. Based on forensic evidence and security camera footage, police secured arrest warrants for 18 suspects. Cha-am police superintendent Pol Colonel Pakin Sivamethakul said previously that 16 suspects had already surrendered to police while two remained at large. "We couldn't possibly go after this guy, his dad's the deputy sheriff of Podunk". The law has short arms round here. Unless you piss off the wrong person. Retiredandhappyhere Posted March 8, 2017 Share Posted March 8, 2017 One dead in horrific circumstances, but two other victims who can obviously identify at least some of the perpetrators, if not all of them, Despite CCTV and forensic evidence (according to the police) all 16 suspects are released apparently without bail being posted for reasons we can only guess at, although we might suspect it has something to do with "influential connections". It will be interesting to follow this case to its logical conclusion but, if it follows the same pattern as the case involving the alleged sons of policemen who murdered the crippled guy in Pattaya last year, we can only hope that in this case justice will indeed be served. I am sure they are well on their way to share a palace with the Red Bull heir. If their parents are elites their first allegiance is to their children. The law is way down the list. How many more innocent victims will die? They killed once (or more), they'll kill again. Especially if they get away with it. There is degrees of corruption. Again they mention time more time time till it dies off. They were like a pack of mad dogs treat them as such.
