CHA-AM: -- RELATIVES of a 24-year-old student, who was killed in an attack when he was stabbed in the head with a screwdriver in his dormitory, fear his assailant may never be brought to justice.

Thirapong Thitatharn, a senior at Silpakorn university’s Phetcha-buri campus, died in hospital on March 2 and two other students were injured in the attack.

Thirapong’s mother, who took her son’s body for a funeral in their hometown Chumphon, promised to press charges and expressed concern that justice might not be served as some of the assailants were sons of local politicians and police officers.

Based on forensic evidence and security camera footage, police secured arrest warrants for 18 suspects. Cha-am police superintendent Pol Colonel Pakin Sivamethakul said previously that 16 suspects had already surrendered to police while two remained at large.

The report details just how disgustingly violent the attack was, and yet despite the seriousness of the charges and the utter grief and despair of the victim's family, the system still granted all of these rats bail.

And the delinquent cops saying they're doing it properly. Sick and so very very wrong ?

Thailand has a pretty low bar for 'influential' when it comes to prosecuting murderers. "We couldn't possibly go after this guy, his dad's the deputy sheriff of Podunk". The law has short arms round here. Unless you piss off the wrong person.

One dead in horrific circumstances, but two other victims who can obviously identify at least some of the perpetrators, if not all of them,  Despite CCTV and forensic evidence (according to the police)  all 16 suspects are released apparently without bail being posted for reasons we can only guess at, although we might suspect it has something to do with "influential connections".

It will be interesting to follow this case to its logical conclusion but, if it follows the same pattern as the case involving the alleged sons of policemen who murdered the crippled guy in Pattaya last year, we can only hope that in this case justice will indeed be served.

They say a picture tells a 1000 words in this case there are to many deaf BIB mutes involved. I am sure they are well on their way to share a palace with the Red Bull heir. If their parents are elites their first allegiance is to their children. The law is way down the list.

These kids are all cold blooded killers and should be locked up for life.  They have no moral integrity.

How many more innocent victims will die?  They killed once (or more), they'll kill again.  Especially if they get away with it.

Releasing them back into society only makes society a more dangerous place.

A serious crackdown on Thai youth needs to be done.

Hope is fading fast. Time has passed money as well no doubt. Again time will be this cases worst enemy. No blame no shame its a poker game where they hold all the Aces and there is no Royal Flush in the cards.

In a few years all will be forgotten and they will marry and their prodigy will emerge and be told stories of their "heroic" fathers.

Lock the whole gang up and put the case on hold for a year while they sit in prison thinking about it.

It would be like a game of snakes and ladders lots of both. The snakes would find the ladders leading out of their slight problem. I think having lots of money either rewires their brain or short circuits it take your pick.

Quit quit your making to much sense again. A crackdown on Thai youth is always happening only to the poor Thai youths. The rich ones always have a "get out of jail free" card.

Yes, off course! Unfortunately there are a lack of space in that section, because they refuse to add more pages.

Nice thing about passing the 75 year old mark. You just keep adding life pages every day. Someday that to will stop. Ah well the new day is dawned time to think like a Thai one day at a time.

Maybe time to call in the fortune tellers.

Where is Anonymous when we need them?

Expose these kids.  If the law will not punish them, someone needs to expose them.

They need to be poster faced murderers and spend the rest of their lives under the scrutiny of society.

THey need to lose face and be shamed upon. They are scum.

CSD to take over probe of Silpakorn student’s murder in Petchaburi

BANGKOK: -- The national deputy police chief Pol Gen Srivara Rangsipromnakul has ordered the murder case of a Silpakorn University student transferred from Petchaburi police to Bangkok-based Crime Suppression Division as requested by family and lawyer of the victim.

Pol Gen Srivara said it would take some time for the CSD police to look into the case in which Mr Thirapong Thitatharn, a senior at Silpakorn University’s Phetchaburi campus, was beaten up and had his skull stabbed with a screw driver, by a gang of 18 assailants, several of whom are children of police and local politicians in Petchaburi province.

oh good, the corrupt police in Bangkok will be taking over from the corrupt police in Petchburi.

There is degrees of corruption. Again they mention time more time time till it dies off. They were like a pack of mad dogs treat them as such. Time does not work in the favor of the deceased only for the rich parents to send their kids underground.

Ah it seems some of those arrested or identified were the children of police or politicians.

Forget this one. Like the police offspring who hacked a disabled guy to death whilst pissed up. Simply lost in the process. Add this to the ever growing list.
