Transport Ministry proceeds with One Transport policy

BANGKOK, 13 March 2017 (NNT) - The Transport Minister recently chaired the official opening of a workshop to further tackle the problem of road accidents, under the ministry’s One Transport policy.

Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisit said today that the workshop had been planned to bring all executives of the ministry together to exchange ideas about effective measures against road accidents that could be substantially implemented.

Mr. Arkhom said that, as statistics show efforts to reduce Thailand’s road accidents still miss the target, the ministry, which is in charge of the construction and the maintenance of roads, highways and rail tracks, as well as land transport safety, must continue working on the analysis and search for effective approaches to ease this problem.

He added that the Transport Ministry aims to pursue the sustainable transportation goal for the country and is trying to come up with meaningful short, medium and long-term anti-road accident programs, as called for in the country’s 20-year transportation system development plan.

I see from the photo they have brought in the greatest minds with madam TAT.  Here's a clue, try policing the roads and banning unroadworthy vehicles and do road maintenance.  Little things but a start.

The TAT is just sitting there for creating the possibility to blame the tourists for 50 percent of the accidents.

But just exclusive for this forum, I am willing to share my knowledge about the full extent of the "One Transport policy".

That is in complete version "One Transport - One Crash", so now they never have to worry about inconsistancy.

Don´t worry, though! This is not going to reach it´s final stage until next millenium, so everybody can still take advantage of every days new chapter in "The Book of Carnage, Thailand" for approx. another 983 years!

But you need to start by teaching them to drive correctly first, something that appears an enigma for 99.9% of Thai men and 60% for Thai women. ( Yes IMHO Thai women are better because in the main they drive slower  so the 20 sec delayed action before the brain triggers anything,  as in 100% Thais, gives more time for females to react)

Dear Ministers,

here is (one of) the reasons why the death toll in germany last year was "only" at 3 280  (on a population of more than 80 millions). You can buy them ready to use. Nearly no maintenance needed.

(oh, any please don't tell me something like "thailand special" or "you falang not understand")

All the Ministers need to do is read thaivisa.com, where the learned farangs have provided dozens of pages of ideas as to how to solve the road accident problem.

That's just "Hardware".

One cannot purchase a "State of Mind".

The essential (missing) "component".

Thai women drive too slow which forces the men to drive slalom through traffic....very dangerous! They should keep left and drive faster....40 on a mainroad while driving the middle lane is not done!

Ok my idea at Forum teach the thai drivers the road rules and how to drive  properly and give the police ticket books and make them go out on the roads and start booking people Opps did i say something wrong lol Nah just leave it the way it is its fun dying Ask the 16,000 who died on Thai roads last year thumbs up carry on guys

1. Teach people to drive properly.

2. Get the police to stop the tea money stops and get out there stopping poor driving.

3. Crucify people whose reckless driving causes injury and death. (Financially, not literally.)

4. Try to get the populatuion to understand a statue on your dashboard will not protect you in a bad smash.

5. Enforce the road laws.

None of it is going to happen, so expect to see news of fatalities every morning with your breakfast.

Yes but they cause thousands of accidents by making men get impatient because of their hesitation and their dithering.

Tin hat on, ready for incoming.

Dear Ministers,

I really think that you should be addressing the root of the problem as this will be the cure at the end of the day !

You must re educate your people who posses a driving licence by obligating them to attend a qualified driving school with experienced & qualified instructors to teach them the road signs and road disaplin basically the highway code and how to behave in bad weather conditions ! when to overtake the vehicle in front and how to do it safely ! also why you use the indicators and how to use them then test them on it and if they fail they must sit the lesson again and if they do not pass to be assed by a professional upon his or her decision the driving licence can be revoked ! this would take a lot of useless drivers off the road and reduce the danger level.

I firmly believe that the whole driving licence system needs to be addressed as well as it is atrocious at present in my opinion !

1.The applicant must be of a determined age

2. the applicant must go to a government registered and approved driving school with experienced and qualified teachers not only in the classroom but also on the road practicle driving tuition to take the applicant through the various stages of driving safely on the roads and in traffic stopping distances and emergency braking how to deal with emergency situations that arise on the roads very important.

3.The implement of two exams after the instructor sees that the applicant is ready to take them the first is the classroom and the second a practice test firstly at the test centre and then after if the instructor or test officer is happy with the applicant and considers he or she is capable to be tested on a public road the instructor must have duel controls of the vehicle.

4.If the applicant then passes these tests then the applicant must drive around with a provisional licence for the first year with an L plate displayed in any vehicle that the applicant is driving so as to warn other experienced drivers the they are still learning the after the specified time has expired to be assed again at the centre for issue of the full driving licence and graduation.

5. I also think that the tonnage should be displayed on the driving licence and vehicle restrictions as well as speeding fines and traffic violations displayed X amount and the law can remove the licence.

6. The applicant must have the medical certificate tested at the driving test centre on the morning of the test by qualified medical staff.

7.All the lessons are to be paid by the applicant and a suitable test fee to be arranged by the government body to be affordable to the public this will provide funding and safety on the roads here in my opinion.

remember guys M.S.M. Mirror, signal, manoeuvre ! great rules ! all the best Ian.
