hi gang,

my gf got refused for a canadian visitor visa the first go round. i was pretty cavalier about the whole process so i see now that asking for 6 month visit for first visa was not ideal.

i just got back to canada from 1.5 years in bkk & was wondering how long we should wait before she applies again. how negatively does the first visa refusal impact the next visa attemp for say 3-4 week visit for the gf?

i hope to have a job soon & a place of residence again in canada because the canadian embassy in bkk mentioned that because i had been in bkk for the past 1.5 years that i didn't provide a stable sponsor for the gf.

i got loads of emails from before when we first met, pix & financially supporting her during her stay is nps. Of course being so relaxed about the whole process the first time round I didn't include any of this with the visa app which I plan to do this time around.

so we can prove we have known each other for more than 1.5 years via emails & pix & even my skype calls to her cel# if that holds any water. i can prove i can support her visit, so is there anything else except a cover letter from me that we could add to have the visa gods shine in our favour?

any advice would be awesome & appreciated,

thanx

Dont know about Canada specifically but as soon as you get a job( or job offer) and a place to stay she could reapply. Remember to address the points that the embassy raised in your refusal and to provide them with assurance that she has reason to return to Thailand as well as have enough money to cover the trip either from you (the sponsor) or from the lady herself.

The refusal shouldn't deter from a better result next time if you address the points raised by them.

Just a little more info on the refusal... they did say that did not believe the gf had reason to return which after reading other posts here on TV i see this is not uncommon. the gf doesn't have a job which is ok with me as i give her more money per month than she would earn anyhew.

i will address the no-job thing pretty quick & also include a bill with my name & new address on it to prove residency. i was planning to include a detailed itinerary of activites planned for her 3-4 week visit as well as some possible flights to book (expedia.com probably) for her IF the visa was issued.

have enough money to cover the trip either from you (the sponsor) or from the lady herself.

i left her a tidy little sum of money before i left so this time she can show bank statements as well i will include mine again.

so do you think her not having a job will be a reason enough on it's own for another refusal?

The 'reason to return' if not satisfied is enough for another refusal.

Embassies are basically only looking for 2 things. 1) there are enough funds to cover the trip (and they could be all yours) and 2) they are satified that she will return to Thailand. A letter from her employer offering work on her return, if she owns property, has kids at school etc

Anyway in your other posting marriage is recommended... then its easy!!!
