Why don't you mind your own business? Are they bothering anyone or making a disturbance? You need to think in a more pisitive manner instead of judging or thinking the worse of other people.

this kind of breaks the image of all westerners having money. its interesting they chose to set camp at paragon which is considered upper class on par with Beverly hills...  if they were thai  or even Asian looking they would have been shooed away or arrested immediately! That particular area is almost immaculate in terms of cleanliness and devoid of street vendors.

I take my hat of to young people who can work their way around the world in this manner

Careful they do not snatch it to use as a depository while playing. It seems that even among the young "whites" today that the live for today mentality is alive and well. A lot of testiness on this topic must be the heat.

I have also seen them and don't like it.

They had enough money to buy a ticket to Bangkok and if they can't afford to rent a room/buy food they should go home to work more.

Now they give all us farang a bad reputation, i hope the Thai arrest them and dump them at their embassies.

If i want to sponsor a begging person i would rather give it to a Thai grandma who's selling flowers/peanuts on a sidewalk. But there are also handicapped Thai on the markets (without any arms/legs) who can also use some money to buy food.

Go home you spoiled brats....

Perhaps it was one of these countries that DO start with A.

Sigh, read the OP and then the third response. Dude is claiming they are Americans for no reason other than to bash Americans. Are you being obtuse or pedantic? Either way, it's pretty annoying.

Why don't you live up to your name and shed a little sunshine. They are probably students taking a gap-year (sabbatical) and backpacking Asia. I did the same when i was young but around Europe. Didn't do busking because I couldn't play an instrument but did washing dishes in kitchens or working in a bar. These jobs as we all know are not available to them in Thailand. Many Buskers are professional musicians who supplement their incomes by Busking.

Suggest you give them a break and let them spread a little musical happiness and take your misery elsewhere.

I understand young adults working  on holidays and enjoying travelling.  That's cool and admirable.  But, getting a part-time job as a cook/bartender/waitress or doing manual labour for 4 hours a day somewhere, or (if they can) a part time job teaching or something is one thing.  But spending your day sitting in the hot sun sucking up exhaust fumes while on a (probably) 30 day visa in order to make a couple hundred baht does not sound like a *wise* use of time.

If you are travelling and visiting for 6 months (I think Aussies do this in the UK a bit?) that's one thing.  But when you are time constrained, should the time not be spent visiting rather than raising funds (especially when raising of funds can be done before you depart).

It just seemed odd and inefficient.  Made me wonder if there was something else going on?

Rash of thefts leaving them with no choice but this to raise emergency funds?

Recent program opened up to young tourists letting them visit for 6 months at a time (so they need to raise capital while visiting)

It's fashionable or vogue to do this? (I don't know, I'm old and have been advised to avoid Facebook so I don't keep up with them youngin')

Or perhaps just bad planning?  Just seemed odd is all.

LMS backpacks through Europe before starting College.   Worked, saved

my money and never embarrassed myself or my Coumtry.  When the

money was low after 50 days, I returned to my Country and went to

work.

In the 50's my Father took the Family to S America, we were told to

be on our best behavior because we represented not only ourselves

and The Family, but also our Country.....in those days people took

pride in themselves and their Country!!!

fascism is the opposite of socialism

To the ordinary person in the street they are the same thing.  Forms of highly regulated authoritarianism/totalitarianism controlling our lives an promising us everything.

It makes little difference which boot crushes your freedom.....the boot of fascism, socialism/communism, or some form of theocratic dictatorship or other totalitarian system..

There are 1000's of foreigners overstaying their visas and some of them are begging on the streets. Been like this for years and the police don't care.

We had a Swedish man in his 40's a few months ago living on the streets near Siam for months, after fundraising he could afford a flight ticket home and seek some professional help.

Your grammar and puntuation fits your class.

Are you the newly appointed HiSo member with special responsibilities for Grammar, Punctuation (note the correct spelling, unlike the way you spelt it) and Spelling?

If no then get off your high horse, drink your milk and realise that this is a forum where not everybody agrees with everybody else. Nor is everybody else on the forum an expert at Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling.

I am trying to be correct. Would they be North, Central or South Americans.

If you are going to bash a nation at least specify which nation you are bashing. It is annoying otherwise.

As the member in charge of geography, I must advise you that there is no nation called central america or south america or north america.

At my local market on the outskirts of Bangkok there used to be a father and son selling french fries and fried chicken on a stick. They were doing that for about a year, not seen them for about 4 months. They looked eastern european to me, some baltic country.

i did some busking in my teens while travelling round europe. i dont think i'd be comfortable busking in a country that is poorer and has less opportunities for work than my own.

and once i'd left my teenage years behind i thankfully didnt need to busk to earn a living...

these guys often have a sign asking people to 'support their travelling', maybe i'm old fashioned but i have always supported my own travelling by getting a job, working hard and earning money.
