CHANTABURI: -- Police in Chantaburi have charged a colleague's son with murder after he repeatedly attacked a 25 year old man in a downtown snooker hall.

Chayut Phuphuak, 36, the son of Preecha Phupuak a Chantaburi officer, has been ordered held by the local court, reported Thai Rath.

Police investigators said that he attacked Kanok Wichiansin,25, after Kanok went to help a friend who was facing trouble in a fight.

Kanok was knocked unconscious then police said the cop's son left before going back to finish him off with repeated blows to the head with a snooker cue until he was still.

The incident - on Friday night around midnight - was caught on CCTV and shared right across social media.

The grandmother of the victim originally posted the footage calling for justice for her grandson on Saturday. When nothing had been done by Sunday the mother of the victim went into police to press for the case to be followed up.

Chantaburi police said that the suspect had given himself up thereafter and been charged with murder.

He is being held in Chantaburi jail as the investigation continues with further study of the CCTV footage and gathering of witness statements.

This article directly follows the one praising Thai men, and how they are wrongly portrayed as bad people !

And of course they other guys just stared and did nothing to prevent it.....

Let me guess, self defence.

A Policeman's son again ??? maybe they should lock up all the Policeman's sons before they kill every smart guy in Thailand.

The victim was a University graduate with high markings !!!

Oh! yes, now it was the good thai man that really thinks before he is doing something again.

Beeing the son of a police does really seem like a problem in this country. How many times are we going to hear about members, (sons),  of these families resorting to violence as soon as something happens.
Not even the police can teach their own sons to behave in a normal fashion. Like one said before. Good luck with the long article defending thai men!

Had to be a weapon, no fists, and had to come back to finish him off, bring back the death penalty

Sure, the man was a cop son, why would they do their duty when it's involved

one of their own? .... Chief of police, make a note of it....

Like father like son!

You have to wonder how many more of these are going to be tolerated going forward. if the crime itself isn't bad (and clear) enough then the police's lack of haste in proceeding with it certainly is.

How much studying of CCTV is actually needed here, in a proper and fair justice system the clear CCTV showing the crime is as clear and impartial a witness that is required, but seemingly not here (unless you're connected and giving dubious edits with a brown envelope on the side a la nomsod).

I wish to see the cop's son in chains very soon, but I suspect this is the last we'll hear about this case as follow up journalism here is thin on the ground to say the least

Help me out here, what's it again that's done to rabid dogs ... at least in places with the least amount of common (!) sense present ...?
Well, there you go then, simple enough ...

Let me guess, self defence.

My thoughts exactly with the cursory small payout to the family and probation which is unsupervised

Something so wrong going on in the minds of 'some' of these people. An animalistic trigger where all empathy for another human goes out the window. This fat little rat should be swinging from a rope, but we all know he won't even do any time.

Sounds like perfect material for a future police officer. No need to go to police academy. He has the natural instinct. Next test...How fast can he whip out his hand, palm up.

Your shot!

Probably very appropriate for Thailand. Only eunuchs can be recruited and trained as policemen.

We then would not see such cases and those of killing mistresses and their lovers.

What did the father do? Was he also involved in a murder?

Only after he cheats on the entrance test.

500 Baht.....the maximum.

does anything ever happen to cops kids? what happened to the ones who beat the disabled street vendor to death?

He will get away.

Victims family will get some money but will also live under threats for the rest of their lives.

The police that did not arrest the offender until pressured by the grandmom will also not be held accountable for their gross incompetence.

This is thailand.

And add, just part of the problem, while so many Thai kids are brought up by the elderly grandma who doesn't want the role of teaching right and wrong (it is primarily the parents responsibility), and at an elderly age doesn't have the energy anyway, then so many kids out of control will continue.

Police's sons have license to kill? No comment from the government?

At least this time, the news says been charged with murder. :shock1:

You mean later in court pay 500 and get yourself released by lack of evidence, or proved that the dead guy is already sick and about to die ?

Amazing Thailand!

bunch of shits.  Sure when I was growing up there were some scuffles, but we pretty much always tried to break up the fights, not stand around and watch what happens.  Disgusting to watch

If they cant get him for murder how about damage to property, he probably broke the cue stick in the process.
