As long as you are prepared to take probable losses on shipments and your customers are prepared to wait upto 4 weeks to get the item. (Non ems & country dependent). You will also have to state on the listing where it ships from (International) as dependent on what it is and the value they may have to pay "import duty".

Also if sending regularly, you are "exporting" which requires a work permit.

Your ID for any International parcel will be required at the Post Office every time you send anything.

It would help if you stated average value and type of goods.

Drop shipping will help you overcome stock outlay and shipping could be solved by the fulfillment service of the dropshipper. This leaves you time to focus on key words in the title listing which is where you need to be savvy in order to get a profit from DS. It's a good way to begin a business on eBay.

Then everything I have mentioned above applies.

"Drop shipping" is basically selling someone elses goods. You do the work, get the order, they pack and ship it and pay you a commission or give you a discount on the product.

Ok so a distributor and there are tons in USA will provide stock options to you that can simply be listed prior to purchase. You would list there products on eBay paying attention to your competitors and you will have a lot. Your value needs to lie in how you differentiate your listing from the rivals selling the same stock.

Since 2001 (Sept 11) security products took off in the USA and companies such as:

Kjb security

Minigadgets

Cutting edge products

Brickhouse

Have been supplying eBay erst with multiple security products to sell on eBay.  You cannot differentiate your listing by offering a lower price as they usually have MAP policies (minimum advertised price) but you can and should try and sell higher than your rivals if you can add value to your listing. Diversification of keywords etc.

Since I'll be selling one off hand made products I'm not expecting competition with exact items. Maybe like items, then I agree with the proper key words to work with the eBay algorithm.

Thanks for the reply.

Does anyone know how to change the "ships from" address?

That will be accesible when writing the listing for the item.

You will save yourself a lot of grief if you are clear about origin and timescales.

I tried to start a listing and there is no option where to change the ships from. every time I click on the shipping it just gives me American options USPS and UPS

can you include shipping in the price ?

Thats what we do  ,  it is a Thai based account , items are in BKK and on Ebay, com

Problem is long shipping time ,  poor tracking and and then stuck in US customs which can take an extra week ....

I would love to sell on Ebay UK  or Ebay Germany but I am not sure that is possible with a Thai based account

If you select international I'm pretty sure you can get views from those countries.

Ohhh I have sold things to the UK and Germany  from the regular ebay.com site

But it would be better if they were also listed on the local ebay

and I could do the Germany listing in German , etc

Just to be precise, you only need to provide ID on items above a certain size. If what you are shipping can be put in an envelope or small jiffy bag then no ID is required.

I ship items on a daily basis. Sometimes just a few , other times up to a dozen. No questions or ID required.

Even when I occasionally ship a large order requiring a box carton I am never asked for ID because as I go to the post office every day they all know me by now and don't hassle me.

Technically you do need a work permit. Just as if you are caught repairing your house or car you could get done for working without a work permit. But in reality, unless you live in a tourist ghetto like Phuket or Pattaya where every official is on the make, you need not worry.

What you do need to worry about, especially if you are American, is copyright infringement and tax evasion. The Thais are a bit behind on this but the Americans are not.

If you are using a Paypal account to sell your merchandise you won't have to wait too long before paypal will suspend your account until you agree you are not an American citizen and not liable to the American tax system.Lying could prove an expensive mistake.

Anyone who sells on the internet will tell you that American customers will make up 90% of your customers so best respect American regulations a lot more than Thai ones.

I was making a very nice monthly salary until I was complacent about American copyright infringement. Short story.....my little shop was closed down and I was blacklisted.

Just started selling again under a new name but only making 20% of what I used to make since this time around I am being very careful of American rules.

Thanks for the info.i will be only managing my Thai friend's account now. We will use my American account only for testing purposes to see what sells and what doesn't.

Thanks for the reply.

Its not really a problem to sell on Ebay, Etsy or other sites from Thailand. There are many Thai sellers doing quite well here. If you need help with specific skills on Ebay, seek somebody for consultation. You will need some kind of social media setup to generate more business. Ebay does not advertise like it used to. But this also is not hard to set up. I retired after 20 years on Ebay, I have $1000s of dollars in Ebay stock if anybody has any interest. A lot of it already has photos. I can also consult on any situation about Ebay. My friend just wrote social media software that contains AI and can tweet 700 times a day after being set up for Twitter.  I found it very useful for expanding social media without buying followers. I get 1.5 million impressions a month with just one site.
