Visa Run over SongKran

My Visa runs out on the 18th of April I have just found out that the Thai consulate in Savannakhet  is closed on the 18th because of Songkran.I don't fancy a extra night in Savannakhet so I was thinking of over staying for one day is this a bad idea? I have so many visas in my passport I don't want to give them any excuses to refuse  my visa .Should i just stay 2 days in in Laos to be on the safe side .I am thinking this is the best thing to do especially  traveling over Songkran gives me more time just in case there is a delay.It wont cost me to much more money because there is nothing to do there anyway (as long as I stay out of that  casino).So how bad is one day overstay nowadays anyway?  I have  got none in my passport and really wanted to keep it that way.

In my opinion, spending an extra night in Savannakhet drinking a few beer Lao is the prudent solution. As you say, financially, it makes little difference, and allows you to arrive fresh at the consulate on Wednesday morning.

I agree I just booked a extra night in my hotel. I can cancel it if I want. 2 days in Savannakhet with not much to do. I will just have to hope I don't get to bored and drunk then end up in that casino.
