Workout with a glass of beer and yoga poses at Bangkok Beer Yoga Episode 2 on April 22.

The first episode in March the OMMO Studio on Sathorn Road that organiser Nipaporn “Whann” Audrach has wasted no time in putting on a second.

If you’ve ever been attracted to the idea of yoga but felt it’s a little too difficult, pretentious or girly, this may be the perfect introduction for you. Yoga enthusiasts are big into healthy living, focusing the mind, tuning the body and in particular balance. So why not balance a trying one-hour workout with a soothing bottle of delicious craft beer or another beverage that you love?

Whilst a great way to make yoga more enjoyable, the sports science behind beer yoga is actually no joke! Germany’s BierYoga founder, yogi Jhula, says that the idea is to “take the philosophies yoga and pair it with the pleasure of beer-drinking to reach your highest level of consciousness”.

Already a fad in the Western countries, Beer Yoga was brought to Bangkok by Nipaporn, a leading party event organiser, fitness fanatic and fashion model. “Drinking and health are two ordinary activities that are typically done separately. Bringing them together makes for something special that is social, really great fun and good for your health, provided that you drink one bottle, not until you are intoxicated,” she says.

Brew Yoga Episode 2 is on Saturday April 22 at Wishbeer Home Bar near Phra Khanong BTS.

Tickets at Bt650 from www.WishBeer.com/th/622-ticket.
