A swiss National had drowned whilst cleaning his local swimming pool

PATTAYA: -- At around 3:00pm on Sunday April 9th, police and emergency services were called to the scene of a freak accident involving a Swiss National.

Mr Ballmann Peter Heinz, aged 58, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident occured at a small community pool in a small housing estate in Pattaya. The victim’s wife was left devastated at the scene.

The victim had been his usual self earlier in the day, before venturing out to clean the community pool, the same as he did most days, his wife told police.

The next she heard was a friend of hers screaming for help. She said that her husband was drowning and need urgent assistance.

Unfortunately, nobody at the scene was able to do anything to help, and by the time the emergency services had arrived, the victim had already passed away.

There were no eye witnesses to the incident and police are still in the dark as to what actually caused the victim to drown in thew first place.

The investigation continues.

"Unfortunately, nobody at the scene was able to do anything to help, "

Such a shame when CPR is so simple.....of course it all depends on the patients state.....but maybe he could have been enjoying a beer on Songkran.

Why did no one jump in to try and pull him out when they saw he was in trouble? We saw this a few weeks back, when a bunch of villagers stood watching a crashed vehicle in a river, and it took a 14 year old kid to jump in and try to help. There was much screaming in that report too I recall.

As do many farang deaths in Pattaya, or Thailand for that matter, this story seems suspicious or at least incomplete.  The article says there were no eye witnesses to the incident?  So did they then later see the man struggling?  Of course it is very possible the man slipped, hit his head and then drowned.  Those types of accidents are pretty common around pools, reaching in too far with the vacuum, things llke that

Most thais can't swim. What makes you think those villagers ever even seen a pool let alone paid for lessons.. Never gonna happen

To do CPR the victim needs to be out of the water first,if it is a heavy person i will take a few strong people

to pul him out.You can give some oxygen but without CPR that does not help a lot.

Another case of "excellent reporting" and/or contradiction!

On the other hand, what sort of "extraordinary lifeguard skills" does one need to step down and pull a man (with the help of upward buoyant force) out of a freakin' kiddy pool???!!!

R.I.P poor guy!

installment of several cameras in and around public areas should be mandated and enforced by law in all condominiums and their functionality must be inspected regularly!

there is so much crime, drunkenness, questionable suicides and homicides in this town.

Nothing is inspected or enforced here and you see hardly any law enforcement around despite the crime rate.

And sadly it's being intentionally overlooked not to perceive a bad image that jeopardizes "the image" which in turn may  hurt tourism, totally disregarding safety.
