Pentagon declines comment on NBC story on North Korea

REUTERS

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Pentagon on Thursday declined to comment on an NBC report about possible pre-emptive action against North Korea, saying, as a policy, it does not discuss future operations "nor publicly speculate on possible scenarios."

"Commanders are always considering a full range of options to protect against any contingencies," Dana White, a Pentagon spokeswoman, said in a statement. Reuters had queried the Pentagon about the report.

"Our commitment to the defence of our allies, including the Republic of Korea and Japan, in the face of potential threats, remains steadfast."

Someone feels like he is on a roll, so watch this space.

Since his domestic policies ( taking some liberty with the word "policies") are in shambles, he's decided maybe he does want to be president of the world. At least his (dwindling) base will be happy that he's being tough with those dang foreigners.

Donald Trump has told a group of American workers that he does not want to “president of the world.”

Imagine if the US drop a GBU-43 on the celebrations in North Korea this weekend...

I wonder if Donald Trump could find North Korea on a map.

Dropping bombs on Syria with a depleted military is one thing- but a strike on North Korea could cause a retaliation by the North on South Korea's capital which is withing range of North Korean artillery. This would cause massive destruction and death. The North also could launch missiles on Japan.

With Trump and the Chinese now working together on getting North Korea to comply- I doubt the US at this juncture would strike.  There would have to be much greater provocation.

recent analysis indicated that a war between the NOrth and South with US involvement would have the North with the advantage for 3-4 days and then with the introduction of 100,000 US Ground forces it would take a month and half to pacify North Korea.  The Chinese have already moved 140,000 soldiers to the Chinese North Korean border- most likely for security as North Koreans would pour into China during a war.

It was also reported that it would cost upwards of 2 Trillion Dollars to rebuild the devastated North and South under a reunification after the war was over.

I just can't imagine Trump pulling the trigger when he has much more info than the average person.

This rat can really burrow deep. He also more than likely has a bunch of look a likes running around. I personally think with the above statement and the ships that are in the area something is in the wind. An ill wind blows no good. Their on the ground information seems rather sparse when it comes to NK>

Don't think you could fly a transport plane over North Korea without it getting shot down.  The MOAB is normally dropped from a C-130 out the aft cargo ramp.

If it is going to cost upwards of 2 trillion dollars to rebuild a devastated Korea, i think that a lot of countries and industries controlling their governments  will be licking their lips in anticipation and wishing the destruction comes fast.

Unfortunately this is precisely the logic that leads me to the conclusion that Trump is strongly considering a pre-emptive strike. If it makes no sense ...... do it.

And yet he has keys to a massive nuclear arsenal. Pray he's not that stupid to use any of it.

This is unfortunate that we have to look at saying the word War and it is not funny, all of the one like the normal working population has nothing to do with war but if it happen they get to be killed or injured for life and of course displaced.

Sure war is good for economy right after it is over and put pressure on the rest of the world.

All it takes is a few hard head and huge ego to fight using their populations as guaranty so they still wear their office suits and have their coffee every morning while people would be dying.

Seriously? Not a single comment about the MSM making up stories because they couldn't get anybody to leak something followed up by having the brass balls to try and get the Pentagon to leak some credibility to them.

They make up their own news, publish it, get shot down trying to get someone to make it real and it turns into another Trump bashing thread. You guys need to get out more.
