just returned from Aranyaphetet to get the 90 day visa stamp. No probs with that...just the usual shuck and jive. What was disturbing was the hordes of apparently homeless children begging on the Cambodian side. Most folks are aware that the the past 30-40 years haven't been good to Cambodia especially in comparison to the relative prosperity in Thailand. However, even in the most disadvantaged circumtances in Thailand most kids are looked after in an extended family arrangement. The cultural differences between Khmers and Thais can't be that great especially on a basic agricultural subsistance level.

The most disturbing image this afternoon was of a two year old girl, naked and dirty, wandering around crying and unsupervised in the hot sun in the area between the Thai/Cambodian immigration offices...could have been Biafra.

Anyone got any comments regarding neglected kids in Thailand and in Cambodia?

the parent even sell their kid for so many reason, i know exactly what you are talking about, been there a few time myself, you can see but there nothing you can do. its a very sad sad place.
