My Brother wants to Retire in Thailand(and wants to apply in Thailand).
It depends on where he's flying out of and which airline (I'll let the onward ticket experts comment). I suggest he applies for a non-imm O Retirement visa in his home country. The application only requires you to enter a flight in and out within the 90 days but you don't need to show an actual ticket. Arriving with a non-imm O means he can immediately apply for a bank account to deposit his 800k baht. If he arrives on visa exempt he likely can't open a bank account without paying an agent to do it (about 4500 baht) Once his 800k baht is in his bank account for 2 months he can apply for the 12 month extension of stay for 1900 baht. -

An Asian girl to die for?: Definitely. Definitely one of Brando's more interesting films.
Ahem.... I thought that was what we were here for.....? ================== But, back to your meaning.... Yes. I find westerners playing roles meant for Asians to be most objectionable. -

Homeless woman with multilingual skills goes viral in Thailand
So many people assume that the homeless are stupid or substance addicted, but that is not always the case here and this points it out. Many are fighting mental illnesses such as depression or anxiety and are often happier out on their own away from what triggers their illness. Each individual needs to be treated with respect and care for their own needs. Also the crude comments about how she looked and looks now need to step in front of a mirror and see how well they have aged. -

France's New Interior Minister Vows to Restore Order with Tougher Immigration Policies
Well, of course, if you had colonies where you insisted you were superior to the locals, you can't blame the locals later for believing you and wanting to have a good life. -

Trump Faces "real and specific threats from Iran to assassinate him"
Well, it's rather obvious isn't it, Trump will withdraw funding for Ukraine and therefore, hopefully end the war. Whereas Harris would increase funding for the war, thereby prolonging a terrible war which Ukraine can never win, causing more deaths and as a small by product, make a war between the USA and Russia far more likely. We have never been as close to nuclear war as we have recently in our lifetime, and if the USA is embroiled in a war with Russia that goes nuclear, it is a disaster for the world. This is something which Harris could, unwittingly, bring about. Don't forget that both WWI and WWII were not designed to happen in the way they did, they happened by accident, because leaders made miscalculations and mistakes. We are not immune from this in our time, and Harris perpetuating the Ukraine war and increasing its scale would be more than plausible. -

Australian Aged Pension
I'm doing just fine out of the discussion thank you 😀 The last reply also gave me the definition of resident in regards to OAP (2) Australian resident is a person who: (a) resides in Australia; and (b) is one of the following: (i) an Australian citizen Regardless of how long I spent in Thailand I have 6 years of car rego and continuous electricity account at my apartment. The Elec bill is a primary document for proving residence for those 6 years (still only gets me to 33 years residence but that's ok) -

Thailand to abolish hefty import tariff on wine
It does happen, but in a protracted way. Wolf Blass, Cabernet Sauvignon, Lellow label which I had never bought under 599, can be had at 569, in many shops. There are lot of wines now in the 500 to 650 range a lot more than before; interestingly many of these are new labels, which I have never seen before in Thailand. IMHO, the retail prices are [in the process of] dropping by 5 to 10%. It is also a question of stock rotation, so good wines of 1000/1200 THB which are selling less will probably follow once they get reimported. -

Free trade agreement between Thailand and China?
Well, I met the UPS guy and had to pay 1,043 baht. The import statement says that about 500 baht of that was import tax (why??), plus service fees plus VAT etc. However, the good news is that this pole from the Chinese 'scum' seller is of great quality, well-made and well-packed. I've already used it to lift a wire over a 15 metre tree 🙂
