A French tourist whose smartphone was stolen by a gang while he was celebrating Songkran in Bangkok was overjoyed to get it back on Tuesday.

Jeremy Gatine was given his phone back at a press conference held at the Metropolitan Police Bureau.

The press conference was held to announce the arrest of three Cambodians and a Thai who had allegedly stolen mobile phones by cutting off waterproof sleeve bags from their victims at major Songkran celebration sites in the capital.

Gatine said he would like to thank the Thai police for their speedy apprehension of the suspects.

He added that he was delighted to get his phone back because it stored key contact information.

You obviously have no idea where the gang hid the phone !!

And they tried to blame the noise on a dodgy curry.

They love the media and photo ops.  Seriously a press conference for a stolen mobile phone

You take while the gittins good. Every scrap of praise helps when your dodging SB's Incoming

If it was a Thai persons phone we wouldn't have this song and dance. It is just a BS Public relations stunt to suggest foreigners are being looked after.

That police chief needs to spend more time doing his job, than prancing around in front of the cameras.

Such a pathetic waste of police time.

When i had my phone stolen the police would not even write out a report, let alone have most of the bosses there for a bloody photo shoot.
