I have been a customer of DTAC for a good number of years now, but recently their service and the way they are handling it, leaves me dissatisfied.   I would like to hear from some others about the service they have/use and their level of satisfaction.  Gathering info before making a change .  Thanks

I use True for phone and internet provider. I've been with them for five years, and never had any problems what so ever with my phone. For internet, I rarely have any problems. They go out every once in a while, perhaps for an hour or so every 4-5 months. I can live with that. They offer lots of different packages depending on your need, with constant internet speeds.

I have had no reason to even consider changing companies.

I have used True and AIS. And for me it really depends on where in BKK I happen to reside. Both are good but AIS WIFI seems to have gotten a whole lot better and True WIFI seems to have degraded a bit but both reliable and I actually use my AIS currently as my apartment WIFI as the building WIFI is crap.

I left DTAC several years ago for AIS. This was purely because I bought a new smartphone that only worked on the AIS 3G frequency.

DTAC were brilliant until it came to leaving, then they were dreadful. So bad, I won't return. AIS, on a day to day basis, are worse though. True, don't, my blood pressure, I don't want an aneurysm.

DTAC have been fine for me, fifteen years, no reason to change.

If you're unhappy then swap to whoever has good coverage where you are and see how it works out.

No point staying with DTAC if you're unhappy about something and it can't be resolved to your satisfaction, provided there are other options available.

One consideration should be coverage area.  Some companies do better in the cities than out in the countryside. Some are better in the north than in the south. Depending upon YOUR needs, find the one that give the best cell tower coverage for you.

.....and how

is that determined before signing up for each and then judging the best???

We have used Dtac for many years & have not really encountered any problems with their service or coverage.....

Sometimes when using them for streaming while traveling the speeds slow down trying to catch a ball game but for online stuff it's usually ok.....We use 3BB around the house & they've generally been good for service & service calls when needed.....

I'd start by asking them. They can tell you the percentages of coverage for different areas.

I have used DTAC for years, no problem but then I use it only for simple telephone and that is all.

Don't use a "Smartphone" , hate the things.

My husband uses AIS and has a Smartphone, has had multiple issues with "services" added to the bill without him signing up and trying to charge him. It seems to have been resolved after the last time when he made the girl in the office call BKK and threatened to change services and told them he wasn't paying for this rubbish he never signed up for.

One bonus with AIS is that you get 10% discount on their fibre internet which really rocks. So I hope they don't screw things up again.

I have used AIS for almost 17 years - mobile service, internet, and international roaming internet.  No problems that were not my own fault.  The minor things were handled efficiently and quickly in the few times I had to work with AIS.

As for coverage, there seems to be more to it than just a lot of towers.  I had AIS internet quite a few years ago with the desktop modem. (Way before fibre) and the service was excellent.  When there was any type of slow down they sent people to our house quickly to troubleshoot signals.  The problem arose when someone built a 2 story house behind our house and it was directly in the line of sight to the tower.  I do not hold AIS responsible for that.  AND fast, wired service became available anyway.

We currently have 2 mobile phone accounts and a Fibre account with AIS.  They all work great for us.

Gonzo - FG's idea of checking coverage is a good 1st step in my opinion.  Then check the line of sight to the nearest tower where you will use your phone the most.  Coverage in Chiang Mai province, Chiang Rai, Bangkok, and Udon Thani up to the Mekong, including internet over mobile signal, has been excellent for me.

One thing to note is that when I switched, AIS gave me the opportunity to buy any of several "packages" at half price for the first year.  I said I'd think about it later (thought I'd just continue with prepaid, as I used on DTAC) but the AIS staff said the half price offer was only available now when I switched.  Buying it later would require paying the standard rate.  At that rate, the deal is much better than what I had at DTAC.  Maybe DTAC will also offer me to pay half the rate if I switch back to them in a year, when my half-price deal at AIS runs out?
