BANGKOK: -- Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), a financial supporter for the Red Line train project and several joint venture projects with the Thai government, is considering blacklisting Italian-Thai Development Corp over alleged lax safety standards at construction sites.

Mr Anont Luangboriboon, acting governor of the State Railway of Thailand, said on Saturday that JICA’s move to consider blacklisting Italthai company following the latest fatal accident at the company’s construction site of the Red Line project in front of Wat Don Muang on the night of September 28.

Three workers, all employees of the company, were crushed to death under the weight of a supporting beam which fell upon them. And this was not the first involving Italthai. In March, a steel beam accidentally fell on several cars at the construction site of the Green Line project, also undertaken by Italthai.

Mr Anont said that he would summon a meeting with officials concerned to find ways to prevent accidents at construction sites in the future such as when to blacklist a constructer and whether a constructer which repeatedly caused fatal accidents should be barred from the SRT’s future project bids.

The media reported three arrest warrants for those who are considered "responsible" for the accident - we all agree it was an accident and not attempted manslaughter or murder. It took the authorities a very few days only - right so.

I also assume that it cannot be the same legal body which is behind getting "Boss" of the Red Bull Empire in; you remember that little brat on the loose for the last 32 months - or more than 900 days ............ who "overran" a police officer on duty with his Ferrari and then disappeared into the safe heaven of his residence down the road, guzzled liters of firewater and walked away by claiming that the alcohol intake happened due to the shock!
