Mae Hong Song governor Suebsak Iamwichan

MAE HONG SON: -- FIVE more people – a man and four women – were arrested yesterday for alleged involvement in child prostitution in Mae Hong Son, while police will seek warrants today to arrest three more policemen on charges of gang rape and taking a minor from her guardian.

The five suspects – Mongkol Kiatpakdipong, Pattamaporn In-kaew, Kanokwan Rattanapakdi, Kwanhathai Reuk-Udom and Kalaya Wutthikhun – were notified of the charges against them under warrants issued by the Criminal Court, a police source said, citing a report by the Anti-Human Trafficking Division (AHTD) chief Kornchai Klayklueng.

The five – charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit human trafficking to reap benefits from prostitution and human trafficking – were escorted by AHTD officers in a van to Chiang Mai yesterday afternoon, where they were due to board a plane to Bangkok.

Another police source said more arrests were imminent, with investigators set to seek three more warrants today. At least 10 police and one military man were involved as procurers or service users, the source said.

It was also alleged that another team led by a man labelled ‘M’ sent girls to provide sex services to senior officials, some of whom were now bargaining so warrants would not be issued for them.

Meanwhile, Interior Minister General Anupong Paochinda has said the transfer of Mae Hong Song governor Suebsak Iamwichan to his ministry aims to dispel community doubts as the investigation into child prostitution in the far North continues. He said given that Suebsak had been implicated in the scandal, it was best to transfer him while inquiries continued.

Yesterday morning, 350 officials, plus private-sector representatives and others saw Suebsak off when he left the province for Bangkok.

The move followed a 43-year-old former police informant filing a complaint in which she claimed her teenage daughter was lured into taking drugs, blackmailed and coerced into sex work. The mother alleged that high-ranking officials in the province, including the governor, were customers of the sex ring. Suebsak has claimed he is innocent.

Request for DSI to take over case

Meanwhile, Ban Kanchanapisek juvenile centre head Thicha na Nakhon led representatives of women’s rights and children’s groups to ask Permanent Secretary for Justice Chanchao Chaiyanukit to get the Department of Special Investigation to take up the prostitution ring case, given it involves many police and administrative officials.

“Despite the transfer of the governor, many officials who were allegedly involved remain there, so that cannot ensure a transparent investigation. If this problem isn’t tackled seriously, new cases will occur,” she said. The groups were also considering whether to file criminal negligence complaints against officials at state agencies in charge of care for children and youths in Mae Hong Son.

Chanchao said police were investigating the case and the ministry’s Rights and Liberties Protection Department had provided protection to the mother who exposed the prostitution ring.

He promised to coordinate with both the Interior Ministry and the Royal Thai Police to ensure justice to all sides.

Punish them double as hard for ruining the good name of the BIB. This only happens in movies.

I would want to be in her shoes ....  thailand has a habit of revenge

High ranking officials "bargaining" so warrants aren't issued. So some massive envelopes passed and a couple of scapegoats sacrificed and the big boys walk. I know it happens elsewhere but not as blatantly and seemingly widely known as here.

I wonder when the disappearances will start?

Request for the DSI to take over.

That would spell disaster, no one would be arrested, no senior official would lose their job.

The dsi have a track record of failure, so this case would never be resolved.

So far they arresting the small fry and not the people who has the

highest profile, will they ever be brought to justice? maybe one

or two bad luck one, but most will remain unknown....

The whole thing about this case was high level people involved with under age sex. I have yet to hear of a single high ranking official arrested.

Until such time as that starts to happen you have to believe this is just a cover up.

There you go!

MI5 involved

pesky foreigners again

They like the barbers cat all wind and piss :stoner:

Keep everyone's attention on Mae Hong Son so that no one will see the same problems are endemic throughout the rest of the county.

Jails are for the commoners who chew kratom or smoke ganja.  Elites who bugger children are a protected class.

Elite can do no wrong according to "their" laws.

Sounds like they're scooping up low-level types - since they were named you can guess that they are no-so, maybe workers who moved up one level from "entertainer" to "talent recruitment and management"?

How sickening this report is...

This sort of crime happens in many parts of the world, let's face it, but it makes me feel both angry and sad when reports, similar to this one, come to light, much the same as the British celebrities who committed such disgusting crimes, and for many years.

The individuals, who commit such sickening crimes upon innocent people especially children, have sunk so low that they no longer deserve to be a part of the community.

It is not enough to arrest those directly involved in the sex scandal. Those who buy under age sex should also be arrested. They committed the crime too and should not get off easily.

Yes, the cover-up is in full operational mode. The Governor has been transferred to Bangkok. He'll be staying at his 5 star hotel

hiding from the media until things cool down. He knows too much to be charged. Continue making arrests of the low lifes

to keep the masses happy. Where is the School Director? How about those field trips from Bangkok of the higher ups Sex Tours

to Mae hon Son? Where's that investigation? I'm sure this would be easy to track with expense money tracking, if they wanted too!

Amazing Thailand.

It is not a "teen-sex scandal"!

It is a ring of pedophiles!

Both things are widely different!

and don't forget picking mushrooms... that gets you real jail time !!

Forced prostitution on minors by the elite is another protected racket for the elite, a few inactive posts coming up that's all

when it's all blown over it'll be back to business as usual.

I hope someone has the guts to go on social media... name & shame every last one of them so the public knows exactly who they all are!

So true  Just shake my head in disbelief

I wonder if the Sun & Daily Mirror newspapers in the UK would be as interested in this as they would with Pattaya,s night life.

"bargaining" like force a 500 B compensation on the victims instead of doing 5 years?

And risk deformation laws and computer crimes.....  That would be brave!

A very HIGH PERCENT of the BIB are guilty of so much criminal activity, of varying degrees, that this is just the 'tip of the iceberg'............. but since they all try to cover each other's <deleted>, not many get 'caught as in this case............. I'm so happy to see (a few of) the cops getting their dues...... 'What goes around, comes around'............. Now a few RTP and 'High Ranking Officials' are learning................. HOPEFULLY.... It's not done yet.... LOL............
