BANGKOK: -- The commander of the Metropolitan Police Bureau’s (MPB) Division 1 was transferred to inactive post at the bureau’s operation centre yesterday following the raid at a famous pub in Khao San area where several underaged teenagers were found to be at the place, and many were tested positive to drugs.

In the order signed by MPB commissioner Pol Lt Gen Sanit Mahathavorn, the Division 1 commander Pol Maj Gen Vajarapol Damrongsri was moved to the MPB’s operation centre, while the vacant position will be assumed by Pol Maj Gen Adul Narongsak, the MPB deputy commissioner.

The moved officer will be given duty per assignment by the commissioner.

The commissioner said in the order that the transfer was necessary to prevent further damages to the reputation of the MPB to carry out the anti drug policy of the Royal Thai Police in the capital area, and also to facilitate investigation in the May 6 raid at a pub in Chanasongkram area where underaged teenagers (below 18 years old) were permitted to enter the venue, and drugs were also found.

The inactive posts, now number 12,569 police, is a Football Stadium near the National Stadium BTS Stop. It's like a city now where the police show up to play cards, drink lao kao, and be happy. Of course, salaries are always made by automatic deposit. Amazing Thailand.

Another 1 bites the dust, that inactive post room must be almost at bursting point.:cheesy:

The big thing here is that it takes him off of the extra money / bribe list from the other bars and clubs in his district. This cost him a lot and at the same time It lets the BIB know that the army is really in charge here.

So what was the actual reason behind the inactive post transfer?  Was it because he was accepting money to allow the underage patrons, not to mention the drugs?

Great question.

He has an awful lot of pins, badges, ribbons and medals... what the hell do they all really mean?

If you <deleted> with him you'll come off worse?

Unless someone shinier shows up of course...

this is a badly written and confusing article. it's not clear what the person in question actually did wrong.

TV team please support journalists who produce well written, well researched and accurate articles by posting their work.

dont promote the unprofessional, lowest common denominator and confusing articles written by many other so called 'journalists'.

this will improve the quality of the site

Genuinely smart and decent people don't brag of their credentials or accomplishments.

Always be cautious around people who tell you how successful they are. It's usually hiding something ugly.

The next time I see a government worker with ribbons and badges on their uniform, I am going to ask what each one means and how/why they got it.  It will be very difficult to keep a straight face when I hear, "mai roo".

Once in a while I find this place supportive.  Thanks to all who colored themselves confused as I did.

My first guess is that he raided a club that had paid in full.  The article is annoying.  Is it supposed to be the hook on the back cover of a mystery novel?
