I am having trouble finding a solution to my problem. I hope someone can help. I had my marriage certificate stolen about 2 years ago along with several other documents. I went to the police and reported the theft and they gave me a report on the theft. I want to get a Non Imm O multi entry visa from Laos but from all reports they want an original copy of the marriage certificate and copy. I live 1700 kilo from the place I was married and have been told that you can not get a replacement of the marriage certificate. What can I do? Please help

if you go to the amphoe were you married you'll get another marriage certificate. BTW you should have 2 of them one copy for you and one copy for your wife. The certificate you need is the ก.ร.3 the fancy one with flowers.

technically you can marry your wife again I guess, but I think you should ask to a lawyer first.

I live 1700 k away from from the place we were married. Can the police report cover it. They also say they will not give me a copy of the flowery cert.

you don't need a copy, you need the original one, they have a book with the marriage registration, you need to pay for having a new couple of certificates.

if you ask them for a copy they cannot give you one because they don't have any original certificate

Do you have a copy of your marriage certificate?

If you do have one you can go to any Amphoe, they will certify the copy and attach a updated Kor Ror 2 to it. The consulate will accept the certified copy.

That is what I wanted to here mate. I can do that. They have everything on record at the Amphoe where I live now.

No I do not have a copy

That is a problem. You will likely have to go to the Amphoe where you registered your marriage to try and get a copy if they have one on file. Best for your wife to try and call them to find out if they have one. Numbers can be found here in Thai. http://www.amphoe.com/main.php

That is not much help without a copy of your marriage certificate.

Why don't you just get your wife to ring up where you got married and ask so at least your not wasting your time going their 1st, even if you can't get 1 they might point you in the right direction.

Yes Rowdy that has to be my next move. I just wanted to see if there was a direct answer to the problem. But you are correct mate. Ubonjoe has given me the website so will be calling. Will post the answer on here just in case some has the same problem. Thanks

in my case, we were married 17 years ago in an amphoe that was not yet 'computerized'; everything paper; my wife sister changed names multiple times as there really was no 'system' ; since i am on retirement extension for years, what difference in getting married again to current wife OR

trying to scour up a copy and explaining and notarizing and whatever else foolishness this idiot amphoe can dream up ?

Not everyone gets those documents! I was married in a Thai Embassy outside of Thailand and you certainly do not get those certificates. Nor can you get replacements or any sort of copies from the Amphur.

The Amphur can only give you a copy of their original certificates, and if you were married outside of Thailand then they will not be able to issue it as you are classed as already married. It is a strange situation.

I understand, but don't forget that in Sawannakhet they should release a visa also for a 'de facto' marriage. I'm not sure, maybe ubonjoe know better than me, but I have this thing that last year was a guy with a Thai woman and a kid that did apply for a marriage visa over a 'de facto' marriage...

They will only do them now if married. They stopped doing them for a de facto marriage almost a year ago.
