Hi, just want to share a rather irritating occurance with you.

This morning I tried to open a fixed term deposit with TMB in Kanchanaburi as 5% is a pretty good rate and beats the 4.75 offered by my current bank, Kasikorn.

Girl at the desk was very enthusiastic and called over one of the managers to discuss the large sum I wanted to pay in. Straightaway he asked for my work permit.

I told him I was retired so didnt have one.

Then he told me these accounts were for Thai people only!

Contradicts himself there as first he wanted a work permit to open an account then said they were for Thais only.

Very frosty attitude and puts me off TMB for good..

On my way out the girl I first spoke to advised me of another bank nearby which is a bit more farang friendly.

I really cant understand why some Thais continue to turn customers and business away like this.

Maybe I will stay put with Kasikorn. I have always received very good service from them so maybe its not worth hunting around and getting cheesed off for a measly 0.25%.

There, got that off my chest, now back to the Christmas pud.
