So all current villas rented through various rental agencies and booking sites worldwide are illegal if for less than 30 days? If so and they were all stopped from now on there would be an awful lot of vacant properties.

Checked an area I know (Koh Samui). Fine variety of options. Prices in the affordable range (low end) is not than interesting compared to a resort – i.e. from around 2,500 baht/night per bedroom for a week, about 1.5 to 2 km from beach; same price level per room as a nice full serviced room in a beach front resort, but not beach-front room/bungalow, which for same price will be lower standard than the villa looks like – but it can be a question of privacy, and kitchen/dining facilities, etc.

However in the more luxury end, a private 2-bed beach-front villa with pool, can beat many beach-front bungalows and villas in a resort – room-price to room-price comparison, 6,000 baht/night per bedroom and up – but then comes the question of required service-level, where a resort may offer more, including restaurants and room-service.
A good option, especially for a family or group...:smile:

Ridiculous to speak without knowing ! Hotel act only concerns condos and apartments.

If you take the time to read the Hotel Act 2008 it cover's every property in Thailand regardless of classification.

It's you who cannot read!  I was referring to the rental agencies worldwide who book rentals in Thailand for less than 30 days. You are implying that they are doing so illegally!

Yes!  They are doing it illegally!  It's against Thai law.  I hope ThaiVisa is respecting Thai law and not doing any rentals for less than 30 days.  ThaiVisa should be setting n example and respecting the law.

If that's the case why not contact ThaiVisa and all the other agents (Thailand-villas.com has over 1000 villas and apartments on offer throughout Thialand, most of which are probably let for less than 30 days) and point out to them that they are acting illegally since you appear to know more about Thai law than they and their lawyers do?

There are some negative people on here to say the least, sugar level must be low, esteem must be nonexistent or just plain Drunk or of low IQ.

 

A company comes along and tries an idea that will help the country with tourism, and you shoot it down without trying to give it a chance.

Nobody is stopping anyone from renting a condo or a villa and making money.  They just need to obey the law and rent for at least a month, not daily or weekly like a hotel.  It's anybody's business when the condo or villa next door is being treated like a hotel room.  People don't want to live in a hotel with all the hotel problems and issues, they want to live in residences.
