One killed, three injured in truck pile-up in Roi Et province

By The Nation

ROI  ET: -- A truck driver was killed and three others injured in a four-vehicle pile-up in the Suvarnabhumi district of Roi Et province early Wednesday.

Police said the accident happened at 2am on the Suvarnabhumi-Yasothon Road in Moo 1 village of Tambon Changpueak.

The dead truck driver was identified as Thongmuan Sariwong, 57. The three injured were identified as Tinnakorn Kaewchaiya, 46, Chairat Inta, 52, and Thongphan Chandawan, 58.

Police said Chairat’s trailer truck had broken down at the accident site hence he had parked it on the left lane and used some tree branches to warn off approaching vehicles. But the accident occurred because the area was dark and it was raining.

Thongphan told police that when he drove towards the area, he spotted the trailer truck ahead of him only at close range so he swerved his truck to the right lane, crashing into its rear, killing Thongmuan. The two trucks then hit the trailer and Tinnakorn’s truck, which flipped over.

Sadly another fatal accident caused by rain.  With a little help from the darkness which hid the tree branches used to camouflage the truck.

It doesn't pay, to think for these people....

Sure. Couldn't possibly setup flares or traffic cones. Blame the trucking company for poor safety procedures. What am I saying! There are no safety procedures....

It appears that tree branches work as well as amulets. Has anyone thought about using common sense?

That last statement is for those reading TVF for the first time.
