Myanmar extradites former Thai police doctor facing death sentence

Myanmar police on Thursday handed over to their Thai counterparts a fugitive former police doctor who has been sentenced to death for a murder conspiracy involving one of his Myanmar employees.

 

Assistant national police chief Pol Lt-General Thammasak Witcharaya took custody of Pol Colonel Supat Laohawatana at a border checkpoint in Mae Sot district of Tak province.

 

Supat was sentenced to death in absentia last year, while one of his sons faces the same sentence while another was handed life imprisonment.

 

The murder took place in Phetchburi’s Thayang district in June 2009.

 

Supat was accused by two of his former Myanmar employees, identified as Kala and Yong, of killing another Myanmar worker and having his body buried in his orchard field in Tha Yang district of Petchaburi province.

 

A provincial court sentenced Supat to death base on the testimonies and evidence found after the man’s skeleton was exhumed.

He did a runner whilst on bail after the first court's verdict if i remember right. He deserves the death sentence.

I remember the original story but the details escape me.  I thought his wife was involved also

So they are able to get some criminals back,but not others,

some ex MP's in Cambodia,not even in hiding,but nothing done.

So this doctor murders a Myanmar man in Thailand, and then he flees to Myanmar to escape justice......

Poor bloke. Didn't have the fortune of being the son of a powerful head of an island. Then he could have killed as many people as he wanted to,  even western tourists, and not only get away with it, but blame it on some poor Burmese.
