Gunfight as insurgents attack ranger post in Yala

A group of insurgents attacked a ranger post in Yala’s Bannang Sata district on Friday night.

 

No ranger was injured in the 15-minute gunfight that ensued in Ban Kasode village at about 1010 pm.

 

After the attackers retreated, the rangers tried to follow them but they managed to escape into the darkness.

 

When Bannang Sata police went to inspect the scene at 8am on Saturday, they found about 50 spent AK47 bullets and M16 assault rifle ammunition. Police believe there were about seven to 10 attackers.
