Unusual cable for TV, anyone recognize this?

Featured Replies

This is the cable to my TV and I'm having trouble finding an extension for it. Those single prong cables at the store seem not to fit this one.

Anyone know what kind of cable is in this picture?

standard old fashioned PAL connector, from analogue days

aside from this, you are only showing the connector, and not the actual cable

old, much oler cable has a brown sheath

later ones all black sheath RG 83 etc having multiple core inner cable, and more shielding coax outer

and then for the F-type Connecter (the ones with a thread), uses RG-6 typically, which has a single solid core inner wire

in summary you could start looking for a PAL - to - F type adaptor

You need a coax extension cable but you might also need an adapter depending in male/female configuration. Any decent electrical store or TV store will be able to help you. Just show them what you have in the picture.

Got my True vision WiFi box replaced and have about 2m extra coiled up under my desk!

Thanks, I did a search on F Type adaptors (for the TV side) and they look like what I'm used to in the US. But my Thai TV appears different:

Does this TV need both PAL male and female? Or something else?

Wikipedia: Belling-Lee connector

Looks like you just need a PAL (Belling-Lee) Male/Male extension cable to connect up.

But are you sure the cable actually carries any viable signals and isn't one just abandoned in place?

I bought a standard connector mostly to test it. It worked after I removed the adaptor on the cable side. Thanks to all for the advice.
