Thai officials continue to strictly screen people coming in and out of the country via Chiang Rai's Mae Sai border checkpoint on Thursday.

Myanmar police have told their Thai counterparts they know the whereabouts of three Thai women being sought in connection with last week’s gruesome murder of a fourth in Khon Kaen.

A police source said on Thursday the Myanmar authorities also have the description of a local man seen assisting the women after they crossed the border to escape arrest.

The group is supposedly living in Tachilek, close to the border opposite Chiang Rai’s Mae Sai district. They entered Myanmar on May 25, so their visas would have already expired on Thursday.

Myanmar authorities told Pol Colonel Ekkorn Bussababordin, commander of the Chiang Rai Immigration Police, they already knew the women’s location and would arrest them. They said a man was seen picking them up from a dormitory residence near their new workplace, an entertainment venue in Tachilek.

Priyanuch Nongwangchai, 24, Kawita Rachada, 25, and Apiwan Satayabundit, 28, were allegedly involved in the murder of fellow karaoke bar worker Warisara Klinjui, 22, whose body, severed in two pieces, was found buried in Khon Kaen’s Khao Suan Kwang district one week ago.

Two alleged accomplices, Wasin Namprom and Jidarat Phromkhun, are in custody in Khon Kaen.

Following a meeting on Wednesday afternoon, Khon Kaen police chief Pol Maj General Promnatthakhet Hamkhampai dismissed speculation on social media that Priyanuch, suspected of committing the actual murder, might have been acting on the orders of a trans-national drug gang seeking vengeance after Warisara gave police information that led to many arrests last year, including that of Priyanuch’s boyfriend.

Substantiating reports that the victim had been killed inside a rented car and her torso severed at a Khon Khaen resort, Promnatthakhet blamed the crime on a personal conflict.

He said Warisara’s information to authorities involved a sole drug case that contributed to Priyanuch’s boyfriend being jailed. He insisted that the women suspects were only selling drugs locally, not across borders.

CHIANG RAI — Three suspects sought in the gruesome murder and dismemberment of a woman were not taken into custody in Myanmar as said by a police source Thursday morning.

Police are still looking for the three women sought in the May 23 murder of Warissara “Amm” Klinjui. Police in Chiang Rai province earlier said three women matching their descriptions were found in the the border town of Tachileik, Myanmar, this morning. Chiang Rai Maj. Gen. Yanyoong Vej-osot said at about noon they had learned from Myanmar authorities it wasn’t them and the women remained on the run.

This story is truly disturbing and horrific. Nothing glamorous about this at all. Not often I read a murder story that gives me chills. Can't help but think that a lot of this was about jealousy which makes it really worrisome.

I hope these girls aren't reading the news. If they are, they will know the cops know where they are now and will probably do a runner again.

When will these idiots learn? Keep your mouth shut until after you have made the arrests.

If they spent as much time investigating as they do talking to the press, crime rates would plummet.

It's almost at the stage where if a gang wants to know if the cops are on to them, all they need to do is to check the news.

The GF has been following this on Thai news. She's convinced they did pick up the right girls in Myanmar. They fled Thailand to sanctuary in Myanmar and were released.

But she doesn't trust the police much.

Such a beautiful woman, with a great body.....and a totally black heart.  What could drive someone to that level of cruelty?

Child hood nightmares perhaps ?  The abused becomes the abuser, only it turns into murder this time.

I think you have spoken for all of us, but think this was about wealth and making easy money again at a cost to the ones who cannot afford it or are not so clued up on the damage drugs do to everyone even those who like me hate the stuff.
