The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission said they had set up a unit to investigate and possibly hunt down a group of hackers after a threat appeared on Facebook.

The threat from the group calling themselves "Op Anonymous Greece" said they would attack Thai government IT installations last night from 8.10pm to 9pm.

Secretary of the NBTC Thakorn Tanthasit said the unit would liaise with the Ministry of Digital and Economic Affairs and security services to analyze and deal with the threat as necessary.

Guess they already did, online reporting is still down, maybe got the dates wrong?

The only real damage this group could do to the Thai government is to expose the digital money trail to overseas and offshore bank accounts left by "donors" to government officials and the Elite as pay offs for their purchasing and infrastructure expenditures.

As for the IT systems well who cares, mostly does not work anyway eg. as one OP said the inline 90 day reporting disaster.

Secretary of the NBTC Thakorn Tanthasit said the unit would liaise with the Ministry of Digital and Economic Affairs and security services to analyze and deal with the threat as necessary

That means they will be playing on their phones on facebook until its over then.

So until a threat is made publicly, there will be no cyber defense against attacks on Thai government IT installations.

Somebody just might learn to attack first, then post a warning.

Maybe they want to find out about financing the subs and where the tea money is going to?
