Renew Thai Passport

I would like to renew my son's Thai passport. We've been living in Britain for the past 8 years and I am keen to return to Thailand (to retire). A Thai passport for him would probably make life a lot easier for both of us. His mum is not on the scene.

What is the best way of doing this?

Do you have parental rights granted by your child's mother. If not you will need her consent for him to apply for a new passport.

You son can enter Thailand on an expired passport and then you could sort out the passport renewal here.

His mother has gone missing, so where do I stand with regards parental rights? (does 9 years as sole carer stand for nothing?).

Don't like the idea of taking him to Thailand on an expired passport - could end up being problematic?

You will have to file for sole custody of you child at a Amphoe here based upon abandonment.

Entering on a expired passport is not a problem. Just be sure they don't see his UK passport and stand your ground if the officer makes a problem. Once in the country it is not a problem since he is a Thai citizen.
