Wine Allowance

Featured Replies

Hi,

Can anyone tell me how much wine foreigners are allowed to bring into Thailand at the airport without having to declare it at customs? I've just realised that I might have received a few too many wine-related Christmas presents back here in England! If it makes a difference, some of the wine is in a boxed presentation package, i.e. clearly a gift.

Any helpful answers would be much appreciated.

Dan.

One liter, so thats one bottle. Gift wrapping would make no difference.

Wine classified the same as hard core whisky.

Otherwise, declare and expect to pay duties.

Anyone know how much the duty is?

(Like I have said before, Thailand government really doesn't like wine.)

Thanks for the quick respone Jingthing.

The total amount I would like to bring in would be 3 x 70cl bottles, or 2.1 litres. So I guess I need to know the applicable duty on 1.1 litres of wine. Does anyone have this information?

Thanks.

I asked the officer in Mae Sai last summer and they said 2 Bottles (2x0.7l), but i only bought one because i was not sure about quality and well it was a good decision (tried Bulgarian red wine for 150 Baht).

Yeah, actually JingThing, I've just noticed that link you sent is just to another third party web site, not an official Thai government source. The Thai customs site, unfortunately, only specifies the limits on "spirituous liquor". Here.
