I am on a two-month tourist visa and have obtained a 30-day extension. I seem to recall that I am allowed a further extension of 15 days. Is that correct?

Thanks

It is my understanding that if you apply for a second extension it will be declined but you´ll be given another 7 days before you have to leave the country.

15 day extension after a 30 day extension -

That was in the good old days, about 20 years ago, I remember them well!

1. Used to apply for and get a 30 day extension,

2. then apply for and get a 15 day extension,

3. then apply for and get a 7 day extension,

4. then apply for and get refused another extension but given 7 days to leave the country!!

A friend and I used to do it every year, and when he was over 70 the immigration officer, at step 2.,

said "you are too old" and gave him 30 days and said to come back if he wanted another 30 days!!

Those were the days.

glegolo - incorrect.

I was on an METV. I extended an entry from 60 days to 90 days (in Jomtien). I then extended the same visa another 60 days (based on marriage) (Chaeng Wattana).

Please don't post things that are plain wrong - as many people rely on this forum for information.

Not only have I extended this visa twice, but I have also been able to convert it to a non-O - also at Chaeng Wattana - and will also be able to extend this one by one year.

It clearly depends on circumstances, and in Thailand, on the whim of the particular office you are applying at. Each one will offer different options and require different paperwork.

Visas are not extended. You extended your 60 day permit to stay from the visa. You can only apply for one extension of stay for each 60 day entry from a tourist visa.

Sorry to say, but you shouldn´t be posting here and be that sure of what is right and what is wrong!! You are mixing up apples with pears and mixing up VISAS with extensions of permission to stay, than mixing up conversation to a Non Imm O.. for whatever reason.

Like U.Joe says you can get extensions of every 60 days-entry you got on your Tourist-VISA. AND finally please do NOT call you extension of stay a VISA. Because it is NOT a VISA!!

Ok fair enough. I got the terminology mixed up.

I wanted to point out that the option does exist to extend twice, (and then also convert to a different visa)  as I had recently done so myself.

I am sorry to bump this thread.

I have a SETV that has been extended to 90 days.  If extenuating family circumstances force me to overstay by a few days, can I go to my local immigration office and get an additional seven days?  They know me well, and I could explain the circumstances.

Or, am I better off just overstaying and then paying the fine at BKK airport?  It wouldn’t be more than a day or two over.

Would a slight overstay affect my next entry?

You can apply for an extension, pay 1900 baht and be granted 7 days to leave the country after the application is denied.

A one or two overstay will not affect applying for a visa later.

If only one day you will not be fined 500 baht for the overstay if leaving from either airport in Bangkok.l

Thanks very much. I will go to immigration if I need anything more than one or two extra days. I do not want any marks in my passport showing overstays.

Simply put, you can not get 2 extensions on the very same VISA..

not quite correct as some offices will allow a 30 day extension to an entry stamp issued against  a tourist visa entry, and then a 60 days visit wife or child extension, but the norm is only one extension.

Which offices?

You were talking about a METV, the OP was talking about a standard 60 day tourist visa that allows one extension. A t least that is how I read it
