June 21, 20178 yr Activist chaos delays Health Act hearing By The Nation BANGKOK: -- The public consultation on amendments to the National Health Security Act on Wednesday morning was delayed after 18 health activists reportedly blocked the session and demanded that Warakorn Samakoses, chairman of the committee to amend the act, to take up their complaint. The activists also demanded that Warakorn explains various points from the previously-held four public forums. The public consultation was scheduled to hear 118 participants, including the activists, to brainstorm in small groups and present their opinions in the afternoon. The chaos at the public consultation, held at Bangkok's Centra Government Complex Hotel & Convention Centre Chaeng Watthana, took place while Warakorn was in another conference room attending a discussion on what the public will gain from the Act amendment. The law-drafting committee, which is insisting on pushing for updates and changes to the Act regrading the universal health care scheme, is expected to hand the summary of the amendment to the Minister of Public Health on July 18.
