BANGKOK: -- Police commandos working in tandem with Interpol arrested a 58 year old French national wanted in France for raping his own daughter.

He had been hiding out in Thailand for nearly five years.

Named only as Mr Prastris, he was caught at the end of Soi Rambutri in the Chana Songkram district of Bangkok on Wednesday by the armed team.

He was immediately taken to Klong Prem prison then to a holding facility at Suvarnabhumi airport where he was due to board an Air France plane with Interpol officers later yesterday afternoon.

Sanook reported that the suspect had been hiding out in Thailand since arriving in the country on September 7th 2012.

He had been charged in France with the rape of his daughter from earlier that year.

a white skinned French guy who was enjoying life in Thailand after doing such a horrible thing. Hope he's gonna pay for his actions.

Unfortunally he is not the only one hiding. Way to many bastards like him around, and its to bad it took them so long to react...

But good that he finally got caught, though scum like him have deserved some extra time in Klong Prem

Lived in Parkland Bangna Trat a few years ago when the cops turned up at the condo and arrested a Bloke called Rodger from the UK. He had been an over stayer longer than  5 years, also wanted for raping his daughter. They traced him from ATM use, sometimes the cops do a good job of catching these scumbags. He was quickly deported and got 7 years in the UK, I believe his mrs threw herself off of Beachy Head, these child abusers wreck peoples lives, he raped her from aged 8. He had lived as a gay bloke here with a Thai boyfriend, probably up to his old tricks somewhere though, they never change.

Hope they lock him up for a very very long time, and gets what he deserves in prison,  scum!!!

That is, if he is found guilty by a court of law.

But, the article says he has been hiding in Thailand since 2012, the alleged rape was last year.

Which seems, at least, remarkable.

Read it again,he arrived in 2012 and he was charged with rape in France earlier that year.

Great work from the RTP and Interpol.

pity that the RTP don't put in the same amount of effort for those wanted in Thailand but live in other countries.

Maybe. But this French national was in Thailand for five years and would have renewed his visa and/or done 90 day reporting over and over again, yet immigration didn't pick up that he was a wanted criminal. Do they actually do any checks when issuing a visa, or are visas just a money making scheme issued with no effort or work needed by the authorities?

I for one am impressed that he was captured and is being returned to France to stand trail.

Good one! ?

not sure why the white-skinned part is relevant,  would have not wanted him to pay for his actions had he been of colour?

5 years ? No 90 day report ?!!!!

Unless they just found out that he is hiding in Thailand.

I wonder how that was possible? I guess someone could fly below the radar for that long, if not got into trouble, used a hospital or anything...

Still do not understand racial abuse, that's what a lack of education does to people.

I tend to agree but many on here would dismiss anyone who isn't prepared to make nasty comments about a group purely on account of their skin colour as "politically correct".

Hiding or living the normal life like so many are allowed to do here while on the run in this pay a little hideaway society.

"Allowed to do here".

Does that mean you live in Thailand now? Have you moved back to Thailand after avowing you never would return.

Or are you stretching the truth again. You still live in little Britain don't you not "here" in Thailand as you post.

You really are obsessed are you not?

Or maybe you meant on the run in here, little Britain. In which case I apologise for getting your geography wrong.

But in the mean while we should be very careful as bystanders to condemn persons without knowing all facts. Courtcase? Divorce and the ex making accusations?

In Thailand a Dutch national Willem Knoppien has been sentenced to 37 years for sexual abusing a (then) 11 year old boy. But the boy (one can see it on You Tube) withdrew his statements made to the police few years after the Dutch' convicted and says the man has never touched him. Police pressure and 'catholic' organisation forced him to make report. It can happen to all of us when others try to frame you. By the way, the Dutch Embassy plays a very strange role in Knoppien's conviction but luckily the press is doing research now in this Farce. The Frenchman could very well be guilty but it is not my task to grill him on this forum. Because I do not know the real facts.
