New Born Baby Residency

Featured Replies

Hello.. I was wondering if you are a foreigner living in Thailand on a non-immigrant multiple entry year visa and you have a child with another foreigner living in Thailand on a Retirement Visa, what are the options for the newborn infant?

Can the infant stay in Thailand with the parents, or are there special requirements for the child and/or the parents to be able to live in Thailand?

What if one of the parents is a Thai person? Will the foreign parent be granted permission to stay in Thailand with the child even though the parents are not legally married?

Thanks.

Number one, make sure you get the new baby registered with the parent's embassy to establish its nationality and receive a passport.

The baby can stay in Thailand without a visa. The Immigration are very laid back when it comes to foreign children.

On the second point it will be difficult for the foreign parent to stay, if they are not legally married.
