Police have arrested three people and seized ten tonnes of thnong wood from a truck near the Thai border in Preah Vihear province.

 

Staung district police chief Yong Sam said officers detained the owner of the truck, Sun Phal, and two workers, Mao Sakhorn and Taing Lay. They are accused of wood smuggling.

 

Hang Thol, provincial military commander, said the timber, also known as Asian padauk, was handed over to the forestry administration. He said two of three people arrested are still being questioned about the crime.
