The boy sustained a small scratch on his chin.

PHUKET: A kindergarten in Cherng Talay has responded that it is investigating an incident last week that saw a 5-year-old boy being scratched by broken glass while he was inside a classroom storage room.

The boy’s father notified The Phuket News after he said he had approached the school, Baan Kajonkiet Nursery Pasak, but received no explantation of the incident last Thursday (June 29) that made sense.

The father presented a printed note – not on school letterhead but signed off as from the school’s management – apologising for the “unforeseen accident”.

Spoiled brat. What a pity they can't lock him out of the school.

Thats extremely harsh and completely non-understand of kids. You were a child once and with absolute certainty you too would have misbehaved at some point.... The child is 5... maybe you never had kids and have lost any bearing or balance of opinion.... there are lots of spoilt brats around, but this doesn't seem such a case, just a child being a child.....

From what I interpret / suppose:

Child was misbehaving, teacher pushed / guided him forcefully into the direction of the cupboard with an intention to lock him, the glass door broke, scratching the child...

Issues:

1) Dangerous Plate Glass in an area with lots of kids

2) Teacher locking kids in a cupboard as punishment (if this is the case)

3) IF the teacher did push the kid in to the plate glass door this is very serious

4) School covering it up (if this is the case)

As a parent, I would be bringing up a serious issue with the school, perhaps charges.

Kids will be kids who sometimes get upset and misbehave - its a normal part of growing up, nothing to do with being spoiled, its simply part of the learning process - their behavior should be nurtured and guided and intelligently disciplined rather than locking them in a cupboard (if this is the case).

The child was biting and beating another child quite seriously, when the teacher went to restrain him, the little sod ran off and locked himself in the room.

Then he started banging the door because he could not open it.

The door broke. As a teacher, I would be having serious issues with the damage caused by the child and perhaps send a bill to the father.

It's all on cctv thank goodness this time.

Otherwise we would have to put up with the fantasies of the parent that their angel can do no wrong.

Plate glass is tempered and typically used in shop windows and tabletops. It flexes before breaking into small fragments. Most likely the subject door was glazed with ordinary window glass which is brittle.

Thank you Richard.

Yes, because if my child was being beaten and bitten, I would have been down the school asking why the bully was not put in time out.

As it turned out he locked himself up.
