More than 30,000 undocumented Myanmar workers have been repatriated via the Mae Sot border checkpoint in Tak since the new labour law came into effect, a senior immigration officer said.

Tak immigration police chief Pol Colonel Man Ratanaprateep, confirmed the number yesterday. He said that Myanmar workers continued to return home to seek proper documents to meet the requirements of the new law. The law took effect on June 23, although it will not be fully enforced until a grace period expires at the end of the year.

Nothing more productive than a paper chase, especially one that requires miles of travel at the expense of an entire country's economy.

A job well done.  The country is now secure from having too healthy of an economy

that is just one border, i wonder what the true figure is, of those leaving via other borders, to go back to adjoining countries. got to be 100,000

I would say more like 200,000...300,000 have left......what amazes me is this Govt thinks they are all coming back once they have their "paperwork" in order...somehow I don't think so....
